Widukinds Diary Entry #5: Boston Fans Need to Shut the Fuck Up Already...

I apologize for the lack of posts, but I've been so damn busy this past week I simply haven't had time. But honestly, I'm fucking sick of this fucking shit. This is prompted by a lot of stuff I've been reading and hearing over the past few weeks. So here's a memo from me to Boston:

SHUT THE FUCK UP.

We all know how great Boston sports are doing. I just wrote a sentence outlining the situation, but then I said to myself, "You know what, fuck this fucking shit."
If you don't know what's going on in Boston, I want to come live with you. My only issue with that solution is that plane tickets to FUCKING NAMIBIA are expensive as shit.
I thought the bragging and shit-talking and celebrating was annoying; now you're gonna feed me this unbelievable, diarrhea-barf-inducing SHIT about how you miss the good ol' days of losing? You know what? Fuck you, asshole.
In terms of the Red Sox, I would first like to point out how everyone seems to forget the Cubs haven't won a World Series in a long time too. Oh my god, I literally just thought to myself what the reaction would have been if it was Manny Ramirez who Steve Bartman fucked up, and at Fenway not Wrigley. Books would be written. Talk shows would be wasted. ESPN would devote 5 minutes to that highlight every show. For 10 years. Ew.
Second of all (still on the Red Sox here), you actually don't know what it's like to not win a World Series for 86 years. Sorry... asshole. Given that most true fans don't develop until say, 8 years of age(this is a lenient estimate), that would mean you would have been 94 years old in 2004. Take out the percentage of 94 year olds who are lying in bed drooling and pooping their pants 8 times a day (this suggests that they can't remember 1918 anyways, obviously) that's not alot of people left alive. Not to mention the percentage of the people who still are functional at 94 who are actually Sox fans.
Third of all, the Red Sox have been a very good baseball team for sometime now, so all you teenagers can shut the fuck up too about how painful it was to lose so much.

Stupid Boston Fan #1: "Oh but the Patriots were really bad for a long time. I know how it feels."
Stupid Boston Fan #2: "I miss when all us Red Sox fans wallowed together in our own despair."
Stupid Boston Fan #3: "The Celtic have been soooooooo pathetic! OMFG I eat semen!"

No, how about you shut the fuck up. Statements like these prove you have no idea what you're talking about. I don't buy the crap one bit about Boston fans missing losing; this to me is so much more obnoxious than any gloating I can imagine. I didn't read Bill Simmons 5 years ago, but I can (almost) guarantee you he never wrote a goddam column about how awesome it was that the Red Sox kept blowing it and he could bond with his fellow brewskie-drinking asshole friends. Winning is awesome. Winning is fun. Winning > Losing. Clearly Bostonians don't get algebra.

I've come to realize that true fans of sport acknowledge the diminished value of winning a championship. There's one every year; if it's not ours, then there's always next season. If our team does win, the buildup to the next season is exactly the same. We live with our teams, claim that their offseason signings and trades are utter genius, and still cheer them on when they turn out to be really sucky and have lost 8 games in a row and are starting Trent Dilfer.

If you have yet to catch on, I wouldn't be writing this if Bay Area sports hadn't reached their utmost suckfuckiness since...4 BCE (the Ohlone were apparently sick at corn-chucking). This is serving as a pact to myself when in 5 years Bay Area sports reign supreme, and we are all treated like gods and served those platters with grapes on them and have lots of concubines, I will NEVER, EVER, NEVERFUCKING EVER, reminisce to November, 2007, and say, "You know, those were the good ol' days."

Out like me from the Dirty in 24 hours.

Hungryfortacos Analytical Essay Series: Entry #2: The Year of the Roc?

These past few days of procrastination have led to multiple days of multiple music downloads. The more music I have downloaded, the more of a common thread I have found. About 1 in every 3 songs I download either are by, or feature the same three artists. And all three come from the same label: Roc-A-Fella Records. These three artists are none other than Jay-Z, Beanie Sigel, and Freeway. In an earlier post on this blog, I made the assertion that the month of December could be the biggest month in the near future for rap music. I still believe that this is the case, but now, whether or not the month of December plays out the way I and the other contributors on the blog want it to, the next year in rap music may be dominated by the Roc. Backing up Jay-Z's earlier claim that "R-O-C is running this rap shit".

The first album release by one of these artists was Jay-Z's American Gangster, which dropped a couple weeks ago. I remained hesitant to buy this album at first, I never heard much of anything off Kingdom Come, but I heard it sucked, so I was skeptical of his newest effort. However, as I sat blazed to shit in the room of a buddy of mine in one of the frats on-campus, I found myself hearing a familar Brooklyn accent boasting "And I don't need a hook for this shit". This was not "Change Clothes" or "Show Me What You Got" Jay-Z. No, this was Reasonable Doubt Jay-Z. I came back to my room and after yacking, promptly downloaded the entire album. And I found, not just was the song "No Hook" fire, but the whole album was fire. Especially the songs "Blue Magic", "Ignorant Shit" and "Oh Hello"- my personal favorite, produced by DJ Toomp, the man behind T.I.'s "What You Know". This album was Jay-Z back to his old form, meaning the disputed "Best Rapper Alive" or "King of New York" proves he's worth the title belts he wears.

The next album scheduled to be released is Freeway's Free At Last. Every song I've downloaded so far from this album features big name artists, and Freeway consistently outshines them on the tracks. Scarface, Weezy, and Busta Rhymes all feature, and all come away sounding second-fiddle to Freeway. This album will not generate massive sales or publicity. However, the blogging world and the internet rap scene all seem to be trying to get Freeway tracks. People who know rap know Freeway has massive talent, as demonstrated in his freestyle I put up in my new music, and if he can generate some positive reviews and some buzz around his album, the Roc will have quite possibly its second-most talented lyricist rebuilding the dynasty.

I already mentioned Beanie Sigel in my previous essay, yet I want to add a few more words on the Mack. Beanie is only featured for 8 bars on Jay-Z's "Ignorant Shit" off of American Gangster, but as soon As Jay-Z cuts him off, I always feel a yearning to hear him spit more. I didn't particularly like his song with R. Kelly (I thought the beat and hook were mediocre), but I found myself constantly going back to listen to the song. Beanie always leaves you wanting more, and if his album can satiate that yearning, his album might be the hardest thing of the year to stop listening to.

A few years ago, Jay-Z built the Roc-A-Fella dynasty on the backs of weak rappers such as Memphis Bleek and Chris and Neek of Young Guns. While these individuals received the hype as the Roc became one of the most highly respected labels in Rap, Beanie and Free sat sitting in the wings, with their hungry but not particular radio-friendly music. Now as rap music gets more and more assimilated into the mainstream (for evidence see: Soulja Boy, 50 Cent, T-Pain and any other soft-serve eating bitch), the slept-on rappers of years past are what are needed to keep rap alive. And with Jay-Z's revival and the emergence of Freeway and Beanie, Roc-A-Fella is in position to rebuild the dynasty and reclaim dominance in the genre.

I was going to do this post yesterday...

But instead I got high. So now it is today.

This is a little list of songs/albums that I have compiled that entertain me when I am...yeah. Some are old, some are new, and one is a new incarnation of an old favorite. Enjoy.

Bleep #1 - Motor | This is the new incarnation of a fan favorite Silent Shout by The Knife. Not quite up to the same level, but it has similar components, which has all the makings for an IP rock and roll session. Mmhmm...

The What (ft. Method Man)
- The Notorious B.I.G. | An old favorite, but I feel that this song was produced perfectly in its slight nuances, something that I only am really able to recognize when I am...yeah. Just listen to the ambient noise behind the song, you can almost hear the stylus on the vinyl.

4th Chamber - GZA | Another old favorite. This song has you listening with curiosity and wonder during the monologue in the beginning, and then the music just seems to rise out of the stereo speakers. Even when I am not altered I still try to find the meaning of this song, and I am pretty sure I will be able to discover the truth at some point. Please keep me informed. RZA, I hail thee.

Spaghetti Groove
- Da Fresh | I just recently posted this song with the video that went along with it, and it is probably my favorite dance song when I am squinty-eyed. Dental floss...

Discovery - Daft Punk | This is a whole album, and it is probably one of my top five of all time, sober or NOT. Watching the Interstella 5555 video that was created to go along with it in the same state just makes the whole experience all the better. Key tracks: All of them. But seriously:"One More Time", "Aerodynamic", "Digital Love", "Harder, Better, Faster", "Crescendolls", "Superheroes", "Hight Life", "Something About Us", "Voyager", "Veridis Quo", "Short Circuit", "Face to Face", and definitely "Too Long" (which is actually 10 minutes, but they are all SWEET.) God Damn! I'm starving. I'm going to go order some Dominoes...to the room!

Out like Barry Bonds won't be for 30 years... (sitting duck)

Ohh Hellooo...

Now, while Juanfeesh may be spending loads of time "on his computer looking for music" (AKA listening to music while downloading lots of porn and making a mixtape for all of us for thanksgiving), I have been listening to lots of old music. I haven't really gotten all that much new shit, and the new shit I have copped I've been trying to put up here for all of you. But these last couple days I have compiled some new stuff to bump to. Some of this isn't quite a DJ Hart smoker- to quote the wire- but hopefully it'll keep your palette moist until December.

Let's Get It

(The order might be fucked up but I think all the songs have titles and info, if you have problems let me know)

Andre Nickatina- Seven Letters Coked Out: What are these seven letters? C.O.C.A.I.N.E. A new Nicky song without Queezy or Mike Meezy. I like. Courtesy of Nation of Thizzam.

Freeway- It's Over: I'm really looking out for Free's new album. This song is decent, I'm feeling the trumpets or whatever they are in the backgroud.

Saigon Feat. Swizz Beats, and Jay-Z (Produced by Just Blaze)- Come On Baby (Remix): This is fire. From what I can tell, the Saigon + Just Blaze collabo is gonna turn out real nice.

Bishop Lamont Feat. Chevy Jones and Indef- Caltroit: Bishop Lamont is apparently Dre's new protege. This is off his new mixtape. Not bad at all.

Lil' Wayne- One Night Only: The first of a few Weezy tracks. Off The Drought is Over 4. What else needs to be said, it's Weezy.

Cam'ron- Just Us: Another one courtesy of the Nation. Cam covering Don't Stop Believin'. It was only a matter of time before this got sampled. However, curiously, Cam is going for a much softer sound on his new shit. It's weird. But you gotta love the line: Gave her a Sanchez/Yes a dirty one. Oh Cam you rascal.

Buddah Monk- Killa from the Villa: This guy Buddah Monk is a Wu-Tang disciple and I like his shit a lot. It's got a real dirty sound to it, I think due to the fact that he was influenced big by ODB.

Project Pat Feat. Pimp C- Talkin' Smart: A song I really like off Project Pat's new CD. Correction, Project Pat's new CD that was "Critics Choice" in the NY Times. No lie. The best thing about this CD is the choruses. They remind me of Triece and Computer.

King Crimson- In the Court of the Crimson King: The only non-rap song on here. Sorry, if you want rock someone else most likely will have better selection. However, I got this song from Children of Men. It's a decent stoney song and otherwise it's just kinda mellow.

DJ Muggs/GZA- Advance Pawns: Off the GZA-DJ Muggs album I put up. This song has a great beat and GZA always brings some sauciness. This is actually on a Raekwon mixtape with the title "GZA Shit". Weird.

Bishop Lamont Feat. Clyde Carson, Stat Quo, and Dr. Dre- On Top Now: Another song of the Bishop mixtape. Another song that is pretty hot. Nice beat, good chorus, and I like Carson a lot. I don't really know where Dre is on this song. I don't think I hear him, maybe he did the beat.

Ratatat- PLO Style (Featuring Method Man and Buddha Monk): Off of the Ratatat Remix tape, this song introduced me to Buddha. His verse is hot.

Lil' Wayne Feat. Twista- Burn This City: Another track off of The Drought Is Over 4. I think this might be my favorite cut off the album. Both rappers do work on this one.

Lil' Wayne Feat. Scarface and T.I.- Big Dogg Status: I think this might actually be a remix of the first single on Face's new album. Either way, Scarface always sounds good and when you throw in Weezy and TIP, you got three kings of the south there.

Notorious B.I.G.- Just Playin' (Dreams): An old Biggie track off of Ready to Die. I love hearing him list off all the old school girls groups of the 90's. What ever happened to those?

Raekwon Feat. Busta Rhymes- State of Grace: This song, according to Wikipedia, should be on OB4CLII but we'll see. If it is, that's a good sign cause it's fierce.

Beanie Sigel, Freeway, Styles P, Uncle Murda- DJ Green Lantern Freestyle: 14 minutes of freestyles from three slept on rapping stars and someone else. Free's first freestyle and Beanie's first are gross. I mean they are ridiculous. Not really something to bump or dance to, but something to listen to and bob your head with.

T.I. Feat. Young Jeezy and Big Kuntry- Do U Potna: Apparently, this is a disc track to Ludacris. Wow. That's some kind of unsuspected beef. Who has a problem with Luda? But the beat is pretty nice.

Scarface- Girl U Know: Another Funky Ass Face song from the new album. Not quite G Code (that would be damn near impossible), but a pretty quality cut.

Beanie Sigel- Go Low: I have never heard a Beanie song like this, but damn it's hard. I like the Jamaican touch a lot but Beanie's verses are the best part.

Lil' Wayne- PMW (Pussy, Money, Weed): So this is supposedly of Tha Carter III or The Leak (the official one) or something like that. It reminds me a little of I Feel Like Dyin' but I like it a lot. A quiet Lil' Wayne rapping about his three favorite things. Sounds good to me.

Saigon- Saigon Meets Just Blaze: There's a reason everything Just Blaze touches is money. This song has a great beat and Saigon sounds real good on it. The Greatest Story Never Told is gonna be real real good.

I'm done like the Falcons, Niners, Rams, Bears, Eagles, Panthers, Jets, Dolphins, Bengals, Ravens, Texans, Raiders and Broncos.

Widukinds Diary Entry #4

Oh gosh, David Eckstein is just such a competitor!

I just read Len Pasquarelli's midseason NFL All-Pro teams on ESPN. No, I'm not about to point out the inefficiencies in his selections, like the fact that he decided to include anybody from the NFC (other than Andy Lee of course! Team MVP, baby!). Instead, it's the language I would like to focus on.

Take, for example, his description of Patriots left tackle Matt Light:
...Not as nifty or quick-footed as some left tackles, but a relentless, blue-collar guy who hangs tough...

Pasquerelli's take on Giants right guard Chris Snee?
A tough, gritty player who really reflects the term "in-line" blocker and who has the traditional mind-set of a guard...

How bout Packers left end Aaron Kampman?
The consummate self-made player...

Tampa Bay's Barrett Ruud?
...Not blessed with imposing physical tools, he is nonetheless very instinctive...

If you haven't noticed a pattern yet, let me elaborate:

Asante Samuel:
...A naturally gifted ball athlete...

Tommie Harris:
...Harris has regained most of the quickness and explosiveness that were his hallmarks...
Albert Haynesworth:
...He is strong and active and more athletic than people think...

Andre Gurode:
...he is playing at an All-Pro level as an in-line blocker and demonstrating the kind of quickness that allows him to block at the second level.

If you're still scratching the pimple in your buttcrack like a retard, I'll make it obvious. The first 4 players are all white, the last 4 all black. Now, I'm the first to support the theory that stereotypes don't just appear out of thin air. While expecting all African-Americans to be athletic is wrong, it is accepted that on average, African-Americans are more athletically gifted than whites. Whether you think it's because of their ancient ancestors being forced to survive in the desert of Africa, or their more recent ancestors being forced into slavery (extremely demented version of survival of the fittest), this fact is hard to refute.
However, I can't help to notice how often sports writers use similar words like Pasquerelli chose to describe white and black athletes. Rarely ever do you hear white ballplayers described as having "pure raw talent". On the contrary, blacks on average are never championed for their "blue-collar work ethic". Are you saying that Matt Light, who plays the most important position on the best line in recent history on the best team in football, got to be so dominate simply because he works hard? And of course, guys like Vladimir Guerrero are just natural hitters, with no real self-discipline, right? C'mon.
I think this phenomenon is pretty hilarious. It may have foundations that are true, but the exclusivity with which sports columnists use such terms is pretty ridiculous. When you watch Sportscenter or any talkshow, look for stuff like this. It makes it funny.

Out like Manny Ramirez at the plate.

web gemzzz...

Apart from failing his social psychology midterm, ya boy has been spending a lot of time scavenging the world wide internet for his favorite grooves and diddies, and he has yielded quite a bounty. For the team, I have amassed my greatest hits of my findings, most of which are techno, and I present them to you today. Sources include discobelle, nahright!?, the soul lounge, the fader. Listen with open ears (preferably covered by headphones, or receiving these pieces at high volume with plenty of bass), and unfaltering minds. [Download each part separately, they are too big to do together. Just click on"PART 1" or "PART 2" above the track listing for each secation]

PART 1: (97 mb)

Daft Punk - Louis Vuitton Runway Mix | A mix that Daft Punk did for a Louis Vuitton runway show, featuring Kanye West, Justice, and Ratatat. Quite a fun party. Peep the youtube video as well (the beginning is really cool, and then it gets kinda ghey).

Electric Soca (Crookers Remix) - Radion | Sliding bass + handclaps + automated voice = A bassy techno groove.

Cold Act Ill (Radio Edit) - Young Americans | "We came here tonight to get started/Cold Act Ill or get retarded" [followed by variations on a theme].

Just A Girl (Produced by Tha Otherz) - Miss Dade County | Tha Otherz sample No Doubt's "I'm Just a Girl"...I used to listen to this song back in 7th Grade, maybe it still belongs there...let me know, I think it is a pretty good idea though.

Saxada - Scuola Furano | 1 Cup of Chants, 2 Cups of Saxophone, 3 Tbs. of Synth, mix 'em together... if this could sustain me instead of food I would be skinnier.

A Cause des Garcons (Punks Jump Up Remix) - Yelle | One of my most played songs so far this year. PJU remix this French track by Yelle beautifully and bring one of the bubbliest dance tracks of my year so far.

As Above, So Below (Justice Remix) - Klaxons | Pretty much pointless for me to write about this at all, this song is a force.

Calabria 2007 (Hatchmatik Clubabria Remix) - Enur ft. Natasha | A song that was really popular while we were in Paris this summer (La Planche bitches were all over this). You can just hear the hand claps over the sound of our cross-cultural miscues. A saxophone sounds in the distance over my cry of defeat after being spit on by a fine piece of Parisian beez.

Speedin' (Dirty) - Rick Ross ft. R. Kelly | Ross and Kells, need I say more? How about, "Fast life, I live, big cars, big tits/SPEEDIN'! I'm SPEEDIN'!"

Club Music (Dirty) - Mz. Thang | Mz. Thang demands the DJ to play club music, 'cause she loves it. I guess how they do it in Baltimore.

Alla Som Inte Dansar - Maskinen | I think this is some form of foreign rap, it may be Swedish. Pretty funky; the beat sounds like it is played on coffee cans. Also has some techno shit on top of that. Shit in a coffee can, that's supposed to be a good thing.

PART 2: (253 mb)

Any Way You Choose To Give It (Boy 8 Bit Remix) - The Black Ghosts | Automated goodness. A winding driving song. Fluid yet crunchy. I think I can also taste a little terra firma in there. (Some might find the singing a little objectionable)

Po DJ Set: August 19th, 2007 - Po | One of the best DJ sets that I have ever heard in my few years in audible reception. I don't even know if this is the proper name for the artist, but who ever it is, they know what they are doing. At least I think so. Dance, whistle, clap, and make computer beeping noises to follow along.

High Top Fades Mix - Sammy Bananas | Tired of techno? Reminds me of GIMIX (the Avalanches "Since I Left You" [Promo], and some similar sample too).

80's Rap Mix - DJ Eli Escobar | One of my favorite DJs right now. I think this will explain why. He is very diverse in his work, I highly recommend peeping some of his other stuff.

Blinded By The B-More (DJ Metric's No Hope With Dope! Remix) - Manfred Mann | One of my favorite samples so far. Should appeal to all.

Rampaging Pigs Kill!! Mix - DJ Dinosaur!! | Another high quality piece of techno DJing. Really good. MMM.... (Samples Clipse + Pharell, !!! (fuck you all), some creepy horror movie, and the "Maniac" song from Flashdance [ghey] )

Sneak Come Out at Night - Keak da Sneak | New Keak. I actually have lots of love for this song. I more refined version of hyphy (if such a thing exists). Keak's "Still spinnin' that Sweet 16 money" it sounds like.

So Good ft. Rich Boy - The Fixxers | Sweet beat. "Four bullet wounds, three gold teeth/I scream it all day 'mother fuck the police'"

Kiss Kiss (Eli Escobar and Doug Grayson Remix) - Chris Brown ft. Wale and T-Pain | I am super down with Wale, but the chorus is a little lacking in my perspective. In reality, the song kinda sucks except for Wale's verse, which is the 3rd, but he is raw...look out.

HHW30 - Crooked I | Hip-Hop Weekly #30. Crooked I raps over Dr. Dre's "Xxxplosive". The first verse is lyrical mastery, and the rest does not fall short either.

Gossip - Lil' Wayne | ...weezy f. baby...we're still waiting.

This is what German rap sounds like... Adam Tensta - My Cool

If you hit somebody hard enough, they will give up, you can feel their body go limp and they'll just surrender...

This is something I am definately hoping to see a little bit of this weekend as there are a number of great matchups that should provide some big hitting. Plus since the Giants don't play this weekend, I had to find a new way to take interest in many other games for a different reason. This quote comes from Bob Sanders, who I hope to see do a little work in the biggest regular season game in a very long time. Last week I went 9-4 in picks putting me at 75-41 and 8-5 against the spread, but remain 50-59-7 on the year. And down 5 bucks...even though I could be even because of a certain bet widukind and I made.

Predictions:
Sunday November 4:
Redskins, Redskins -4 over Jets. The Jets are really bad, and I like the point Bill Simmons made that the Redskins should be really mad at the Jets for causing the Pats to fuck them last week. One game I have interest in.
Packers, Packers +2 over Chiefs. I am not buying into the short week long week concept. I think the Pack are the better team and should win. A game I am interested in.
Cardinals, Cardinals +3 1/2 over Bucs. I see the Bucs sliding big time over the next few weeks. I don't know why, but I think there gonna have a rough end to the season.
Titans, Titans -4 over Panthers. I hope by the end of this game the traveling Panthers fans get a "We Want Vinny Chant" going.
49ers, Niners +3 1/2 over Falcons. This makes three Niners picks in three weeks, I have been wrong the first two times. If they lose this game they are really really really bad. Plus Niners fans have two more reasons for being mad: Frank Gore might not play, and their first-round draft pick belongs to the Pats. A game I have interest in.
Saints, Saints -3 1/2 over Jags. Quinn Grey will not win back-to-back games. Plus the Saints are starting to put it together. Another game I will be checking on.
Broncos, Broncos +3 over Lions. Are the Lions really as good as the Broncos? I really don't think so. I will be checking on this game as well.
Bills, Bills +1 over Bengals. When in doubt bet on the home underdog. Especially when the away team has been horribly disappointing.
Chargers, Chargers -7 over Vikings. Come on Chargers, keep doing work and putting up big points. A game I have lots of interest in.
Browns, Browns -1 1/2 over Seahawks. The NFC West is the worst division in football. This will be made more clear when the Browns smoke the Seahawks.
Pats, Pats -6 over Colts. Unbelievable matchup. The next two weeks of football are gonna be great: Pats-Colts, Eagles-Cowboys, Giants-Cowboys, Chargers-Colts + some other decent matchups. Big interest in this one as well.
Texans, Texans +3 over Raiders. It's weird being on the East Coast because I have no idea what's going on in Raider Nation. Their record, starters, opponents...I have no idea about any of these things. Please fill me in.
Eagles, Eagles +3 over Cowboys. The Eagles always find a way to steal one from the Cowboys. Plus I think they'll be playing hard for Andy Reid who has had a worse week than just about anybody.
Steelers, Steelers -10 over Ravens. Never did I think that the Ravens would be getting 10 points this year unless it was against the Colts or Pats.

If all works well, this could be a very good week of football.

Oh Toney...

The new Manny? Ghostface Killah (who has never appeared hard up for cash) is now selling an autographed hat on eBay. Looking or a birthday present for me? Get this (and maybe The Big Dough Rehab [due out 12/4] as well; they do complement each other nicely). Happy Bidding...

The Broad Street Bully is back...

One month away and can't you just taste it?! The month of December is fast approaching, and Beanie Mac has given us a little something to chew on before that fateful episode kicks off in thirty days. Here is his latest video "All of the Above", featuring none other than Kells (sans doo doo and wee wee of course). This time, Kells isn't taking out people with his vast misinterpretation of state laws, but doing a little favor for Beanie with his extensive Chi connections. Watch the magic unfold...

Widukinds Diary Entry #3

Topic 1) I really want some Mexican food. I went to this place near here a while ago, which a kid from Boston and one from Nashville called "really good". Let me tell you, it was not "really good". I ordered a burrito, and it was just a fucking tortilla wrapped around that really cheap, ground-up taco meat that they used to serve at the cafeteria in middle school. You know, the kind that looks like they had a thousand midgets shit in a tortilla and then threw some rice on the side and cheese on top. "Really good" my ass.

Topic 2) What a shitty weekend for sports. I hate Boston so much. Fuck Boston. Everything in the city should be renamed. Like the "Peedom Trail" and the "Boston Pee Party", and "Fenghey Park" and "The Green Diarrhea". You know, I like Bill Simmons and all, but to have another fucking week of Red Sox and Patriots articles is really going to piss me off.

Topic 3) Here is my first bold prediction for the 2008 MLB season: it all starts with the Angels signing A-Rod. Mets don't need him, Red Sox just can't have him, and no way he wants to go to the NL and play for the Dodgers or Giants. So, the Angels actually sign him for a bit less (not a whole lot) than expected, because the market actually thins for A-Rod and his monster salary. Here's the kicker; a certain slugger from the Bay Area sees this signing, and realizes, "Holy fuck this is my chance to win a ring". So Barry signs with the Angels and does the classy thing: takes a pay cut. Sure, he'll have some accomodations made for him under the table to make up for the semi-low salary, but when it comes down to it, Barry will realize LA is the place he wants to be. Why? 3 reasons. One, he gets to stay in California. Two, I think the fans in LA would be more kind to him than more traditionalists, like in New York or Boston. Three, the possibility of hitting in front of, or behind, Vlad and A-Rod is just too jizz-inducing to imagine. Imagine that Angels team. Set the table with Figgins and Kendrick, followed by three of the greatest hitters of the past decade plus? With their rotation and bullpen, games would be over by the 2nd inning. Unbelievable.
Obviously this is extremely far-fetched, but it's not impossible. All I know is wherever Barry ends up, I will root for that team to win the World Series, no exceptions.

Out like the Rockies...tear.

"I have more cheese than a platinum artist rappin' garbage"

This is so hot, I've got to get it off my hands before they burn... serially. Freeway, the Philly based phenom (whose birth name is Leslie Pridgen...right?), in light of his new album Free at Last, which is set to drop on November 20th (a great warm-up for gut-check December, which features Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Lil' Wayne, Scarface, Too $hort, Jadakiss, and Paul Wall), leaked one of the first singles, "Step Back" featuring Lil' Wayne. This song is ripe; Produced by Don Cannon, "Step Back", sounds very similar to his "Cannon (Remix)" with Wayne, Detroit Red, and Freeway of earlier Gangsta Grillz work, with the catch phrase being used not only as the beat, but as a lyrical instrument as well. The only version that I could find is the clean version that I got through nahright.com, but I will keep looking for the dirty version for all of those potty-mouths out there.

I can't get caught because I talk so much trash about how fast I am ... so much trash...

So this quote is not meant to offend the Niners fans, in fact I'm done talking shit, but I have to mention this one statistic: in the two games I attended at Giants Stadium, Osi Umenyiora has 7.0 sacks, 3 Forced Fumbles, 2 Fumble Recoveries, 1 TD and two Defensive Player of the Week Awards. I am jocking him hard the rest of the year, so hard I might have to buy a red jersey. Last week I went 9-5 (I forgot to put up my Raiders Chiefs pick but I would have picked the Raiders) making me 66-37, and went 5-8-1 making me 42-54-7. This week I'm turning it around.

Predictions:
Browns, Browns -3 over Rams. This could be one of the Rams best opportunities to win a game. I really hope it doesn't happen.
Bears, Bears -5 over Lions. The Lions are the new "Greatest Show on Turf", but play like shit on the road.
Colts, Colts -7 over Panthers. The most ludicrous spread of the week. With Vinny at QB I think this should be two touchdowns.
Giants, Giants -10 over Dolphins. I am praying for the Giants not to fall into a trap game going into their bye. Their game against Dallas two weeks from now could be the biggest game in the regular season for the NFC.
Titans, Raiders +7 over Titans. The Titans are ok, but simply cannot put teams away. VY leads them to a win in a close one.
Vikings, Vikings +1 over Eagles. I like the home team in this one. Two teams that are in big trouble if they lose this game. The Eagles need this one bad.
Steelers, Steelers -4 over Bengals. A replay of 2005 except Carson Palmer doesn't get hurt and the game is never close.
Bills, Bills +3 over Jets. The Bills screwed me last week, this week playing against a Jonathan Vilma-less Jets, they should cruise.
Chargers, Chargers (pick/no line)over Texans. The Chargers should win this won comfortably. We at Dress Archie wish the best for our neighbors to the South.
Bucs, Bucs -4 over Jaguars. Quinn Grey sucks. With David Gerrard playing, I pick the Jags in this one no doubt.
49ers, Niners +3 over Saints. My upset of the week. Niners steal one off the Saints. Frank Gore should get back on track and just go off on the Aints.
Pats, Pats -17 over Redskins. They have covered every week and at least twice I said they wouldn't. I hope they beat the Skins by 100.
Packers, Packers +3 over Broncos. Brett Favre works his Monday Night magic, and the Broncos concede they are about done this year.

I'm out like the good weather in Boston for the next 5 months.

My two newest purchases...

If you get these you know too much about football...

Oh S[a]igh[gon]...

Hold on. One more thing. It looks like December 4th is going to be a little busier. And yet, in light of recent events, we will still only have to buy two records that day. RZA, to the pleasure of our main man Ghost in the muthah-fuckin-house, has decided to push the release date of 8 Diagrams, which was set to drop December 4th, back to December 11th. We will have to wait another week, but it should be worth it, besides, it will give us more time to listen to Ghostface with our undivided attention--HOLD ON!--In enters Saigon [stage right]. "My record, The Greatest Story Never Told, is dropping on the same god-dammed day! Why no respect?!" Well Sai, I'z sorry. I forgot. This album should be pretty sick as well, with tracks produced by Just Blaze and Kanye, as well as The Alchemist, with guest appearances by Bun B, Devin the Dude, Layzie Bone, Q-Tip, and Jay-Z. Sai claims that this will be one of the best rap albums of the past 20 years, which is a rather bold statement. This is going to be a pretty good album, but Sai, come on. That is a pretty tall order. Especially when you are releasing your album in probably one of the busiest and important months in rap's long and infamous life. Show me what you got...

Widukinds Diary Entry #2

Although I am a maturing young man, I'm not afraid to admit that I still have a soft spot for cute things. I like my cat, I like dogs (excluding Indy [sp?], usually Lola, and sometimes Chocolate), and I like Animal Planet. But no fuzzy baby bears, no cuddling chinchillas compare to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
I just got back from seeing him give one of his many lectures at my school this weekend, and he is exactly as I imagined: a total goofball. The lights on stage were so bright for him that he put on this incredibly silly looking foam visor that was always a little lopsided. Later, the president of Emory was sitting next to him and giving him a welcome speech, but he was having difficulty holding all of his papers while managing the microphone. So D-Lams (as he is affectionately known around our hall) took the mic from the presidents hands and held it in front of his mouth. The president couldn't stop laughing, and while he was sifting through his papers Lams took the mic and pretended to bop him on the head while he wasn't looking. He then turned to the audience, and with the goofiest, most mischevious look I have ever seen, commenced his sublime belly laugh. It's exactly how we imagine Dmeat-hook or Big Papi's, except instead of a big happy black guy it's a little happy Tibetan monk (hungryfortacos especially, you have to see this guy in person someday).
Oh, yeah, his lecture was also pretty interesting. Admittedly it was a little hard to understand; he did most of it in English, but occasionally dipped in to Tibetan and had it translated. But here's the crazy thing; throughout the lecture I was trying to relate concepts he expressed to basic tenents of other religions, but when it came down to the nitty gritty, I couldn't help relating everything to our Shrooms Book.
The main focus of D-Lams' lecture was interdependence. For example, His Holiness addressed the issue of war, and proposed that everyone is part of everyone else; consequently, the destruction of your neighbor also results in the destruction of yourself. He guided the audience through the steps of coming to the realization that maintaining ones inner-self stems directly from supporting those around you, regardless of who they may be and from what background they come.
Ring any bells? Compare these Buddhist concepts to "We are all people, we just spell people differently. Pipple is how Alex spells People. I spell it world."
It's amazing that the same ideas that rang so unbelieveably true while on shrooms in Amsterdam are being upheld by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the entire Buddhist tradition.
I literally think a legitimate thesis could be written on this concept. On shrooms we were able to function normally, yet somehow the world was different. It was light, happier, and everything made so much sense. We generated hypotheses that would help cure seemingly endless world conflicts, and even accompanied them with pictures. It wasn't like smoking where you feel the need to consume immense amounts of food (a.k.a. "material possessions") and are overcome by the desire to get some (or if you're not so lucky, go home and do the business). Some of us sat, some of us wandered, but we were all enlightened in some way.
So what is our glorious conclusion? I present two. 1) Either D-Lams is totally hooked on psilocybin (or some crazy Tibetan master cush), or 2) everyone should just do shrooms more. I really don't see another option. Except that maybe they're both true.

Out like Tricky Dick.

The Steelers think they are hot shit. There's only one guy on that team I have respect for...

(Too soon or not soon enough?)

Now while this quote comes from the 1970's I feel it is still relevant today because the Steelers are so ghey. That being said on to the picks... 8-5 last week in picks (57-32 on the year) and 5-6-2 with spread (37-46-6) on the year. Now "if gambling was legal to quote Bill Simmons" it would be really dumb to start this week because I have bad feelings about all these games. Nonetheless, we'll see how I do...

Predictions:
Redskins, Cardinals +8 1/2 over Skins. Cardinals have enough firepower to keep it close.
Saints, Saints -8 over Falcons. The Falcons are atrocious and the Saints are gonna go on a little streak here I bet after that first win.
Ravens, Ravens -3 over Bills. I think the Ravens are gonna eat Troy Edwards lunch. And then toss his salad.
Patriots, Dolphins +17 over Pats. What?! you might be asking yourself. 6-0 not covering over 0-6, I'm saying Pats dominate but it'll be closer than expected.
Giants, Niners +9 1/2 over Giants. I think the Giants are gonna win, especially with Smith out, but I don't think they'll blow out this Niners team. I expect it to be a close one.
Bucs, Bucs +2 1/2 over Lions. One of the games I have no idea about. Really two even teams.
Texans, Texans +1 1/2 over Titans. Another game I have no clue about. When in doubt, I take the underdog covering.
Bengals, Benagls -6 1/2 over Jets. What a down year for both teams. Jeez.
Cowboys, Vikings +10 over Cowboys. This game is gonna be close. I even think it could be an upset. We'll see though.
Bears, Bears +6 over Eagles. I just think the Eagles are real bad and the Bears D will definately be looking to prove something after being embarrassed by the Vikings (wait not the Vikings, Adrian Peterson).
Seahawks, Seahawks +8 1/2 over Rams. I can't wait for the two 0-6 teams to be two 0-7 teams.
Steelers, Steelers -4 over Broncos. I really really want to take the Broncos. But honestly, Travis Henry should have more than football on his mind...like his nine children and their nine different mothes.
Colts, Colts -3 1/2 over Jags. Peyton's not going down on Monday night.

I'll see some of you tomorrow at the holy land.

This ain't no frat house...

Weezy F. Baby and Fat Joe are back with a new slapper. Produced by DJ Benzi, their new song "Crack House" is filled with excellent Joeisms, such as "You gotta touch your toes or I'm out/Fuck the club, I got a strip pole in my house". I will keep the words short as not to block the previous masterpiece. Out...

It Comes Down to December...

Album sales are down all across the board. Aside from Kanye West's Graduation which sold 957,000 copies its first week, has there been any other albums released this year that can be considered necessary purchases? Pharoahe Monch's Desire might have been the second best album behind Graduation but apparently sold little over 17,000 copies its first week. Detox and Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II never dropped (unsurprisingly), while both T.I's T.I. VS. TIP and 50's Curtis did and were either real mediocre (somewhat surprisingly) or downright crappy (duh, CURTIS). Not too long ago, Nas released his album Hip Hop Is Dead to controversy on a number of fronts; I myself found the statement over-the-top and rather douchebaggy, but today I can't help but wonder if Nas was on to something. Hip-Hop might not be dead, but it certainly appears to be either hibernating or on its last legs. Which is why the month of December may be what makes or breaks the future of the rap industry.

I've been forced to listen to the radio on a number of drives for soccer this year, and have been appalled with the amount of plays songs like Crank That receive. I always knew it existed, but back home I never listened to the radio at all so I remained blissfully ignorant to the overall state of mainstream rap music. But now that I have realized how ugly it can be, hope appears to be on the horizon. For in the month of December, potentially 5 "must-purchase" albums may be released. Now release dates in the rap game like a Larry David promise, and I got the dates from the oh-so reliable wikipedia, but nonetheless, I'll continue on the assumption that all the albums will release on the day the are supposed to. On December 4th, Wu-Tang Clan's 8 Diagrams, Ghosface Killah's Big Dough Rehab, and Scarface's MADE will all drop, while on December 11, Beanie Sigel's The Solution will be released, and on December 18th, Tha Carter III will come out as well.

8 Diagrams and Big Dough Rehab are the best hope for the underground, less mainstream rap fans. Ghostface's last two albums have been real hot and everything I have heard from the new Wu-Tang album I have liked. However, the underground scene has had a rough year. Talib Kweli's new album did not have a large effect on the rap game, and Common's new album was hated on by pretty much everyone. The hopes then fall on the shoulders of the Wu-Tang Clan and one of its members. Will this new album bring them back to the label of 36 Chambers or will it less successful, like The W or Iron Flag?

The last two, The Solution and Tha Carter III have the hopes of entire regions riding on them. The East Coast has been dead for some time in rap- I mean Busta Rhymes was crowned "King of New York"- and despite Jay-Z's comeback and new album, it still needs resuscitation. What it comes down to is that the East Coast needs quality rap, and the rap industry needs the East Coast markets. Beanie Sigel has been released from jail, started up some shit with Kanye questioning his sexuality (nothing like a little beef, it leads to better music) and recorded an album that originally had the title of Return of the Bad Guy. That sounds like something rap needs. Weezy's Carter III on the other hand is a huge album for a couple reasons. First off, the South has been rather dominant in the rap game for a little while now, but this year has had sort of a down year, considering Jeezy's and TI's mediocre releases. Wayne needs to basically put the whole region on his back. He also has to prove on a studio album that he is "The Best Rapper Alive". Both of the Carter's have been hot, but haven't cemented his status as a king in the game yet. The Carter III must do that. Plus with all the bloggers and backpack rap fans, and mixtape heads dick-riding him so hard right now (me and the rest of the contributors included) he's got to to prove he's worth all the attention.

However the most interesting and possibly most powerful album of the 5 could be Scarface's MADE. Now sophomore year I think was the year I was in my Scarface phase (along with Freshman year maybe) and after G Code I slept on him for a while. But he's got a new album coming out, and considering his last real solo album was The Fix, a fucking classic, this new album could be the best Gangster/Hardcore rap album for a long time. Scarface raps real hard, maybe the hardest in the game, and its time to see whether or not that holds clout in the rap industry any more.

If these 5 albums all drop to critical acclaim and at least modest album sales, rap can consider itself in ok shape. If they flop though, then you have possibly the best group of all time, possibly the best gangster rapper, probably the best young rapper, possibly the best slept on rapper, and probably the hungriest rapper all failing, and rap music may not be able to survive all that in the span of one month.

(I hope you enjoy my 5 paragraph critical essay right there and that's not even for a class)

Where is Bangers and Cash?

Just to continue on the vein of ridiculous pictures, I thought I would show the reason for Best Buy pulling the sale of Spank Rock's forthcoming EP Bangers and Cash. Peep the bright red object in the middle of this back cover photograph. Yes, that is a dildo. News courtesy of okayplayer.com.

Zaireeka Party!

Thats right, the Flaming Lips will be having a party to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the release of their experimental album Zaireeka, Pitchfork reports.

These parties are said to be held between now and Halloween in Record Stores all around the country.

This will also mark the day of the release of the hallowed "10th" disc, which is actually the 5th disc of the series.

Also, a "Digital Wayne" will appear of DVD at all of the parties explaining the meaning of each track.

(The four sentences are meant to be read at the same time from four different readers, but to really be trippy, try different combinations of the four)

Une fête du danse tecktonique...

I have probably showed many the video of Spoke en Mode (or at least that is what I have decoded his name to be from my journies through the French comments left underneath this video on youtube and its French and Lithuanian counterparts), a dancer that I feel embodies the "tecktonic" dance craze that is said to be sweeping Paris. Since I have not seen this first hand, I thought I would show you this video of Spoke en Mode, instead of attempting to explain this amazing style of dance that just makes me want to move my whole body. To make matters ten times better, I also was able to track down the song from the video, which is incredible. You can listen to the song directly here. Or download it...

p.s. Having a techno dance party and short a DJ? No problem! Hit up discobelle, a blog that I just found that is really great for techno mixes and weird underground rap mixes. I highly suggest the Hollywood Holt Mixtape, a special mix that Daft Punk did for a Louis Vuitton runway show (check out the video on that page as well), as well as Calabria 2007 (Hatchmatik Clubabria Remix), which is a version of a song that was really popular when we were in Europe. For longer DJ sets, check out the mixes section of the site, which has tons of recordings of live DJ sets that are from 45 minutes to an hour long. This blog is super prolific, with almost five posts a day, so enjoy and explore...

p.p.s. Shout out to my roommate Ian & James Harris, who found this guy years ago...

Wu-Tang- The Heart Gently Weeps

To the haters who said I wouldn't get my money/I laugh, say 'Ha ha, that's funny'

This quote and post will combine two of my favorite things. Rap and football. I got a couple things lined up like a fade for you.

(I'm going in a list like Michael)
#1. I still have been listening to nothing but Wu-Tang in school. But I realized, wait, I don't even own the album that started it all, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). I figure that you guys like me probably only had CREAM and Method Man, so here's the rest of the CD. It's pretty fucking money. Get Enter the Wu-Tang.

#2. So in the car ride to CCRI for our reserve soccer game I heard this trippy ass new Lil' Wayne song. It's all about drugs and being high and sounds like it would be sick if you were high (I plan on experimenting with this tonight). It's called I Feel Like Dying, and supposedly according to the artist information in iTunes will be on Tha Carter III. Curious...

#3. 10-4 in picks last week, making me 49-27 (very nice) and 5-8-1 taking me to 32-40-4 (minor setback). This week's picks, minimal at most analysis:
Bengals, Bengals -3 over Chiefs. Chiefs are horrible.
Texans, Texans +7 over Jags. Texans keep the streak alive.
Browns, Browns -5 1/2 over Dolphins. Browns can put up points on anyone.
Bears, Bears -6 over Vikings. Called Bears last week, I like them at home.
Eagles, Eagles -3 1/2 over Jets. Jets look horrible, Eagles needed the bye week.
Ravens, Rams +10 over Ravens. Not sure if Ravens can put up more than 17 points.
Bucs, Bucs -3 over Titans. Somewhat of an upset, Titans need to slow down soon?
Packers, Packers -3 over Redskins. Fuck the Redskins
Cardinals, Cardinals - 4 1/2 over Panthers. No way Vinny T. wins if he starts.
Chargers, Chargers -10 over Raiders. Chargers keep it together/get it going again.
Patriots, Pats -6 1/2 over Cowboys. Wade Phillips is fucking retarded if he said Pats titles were tainted. Why would you ever give any sort of bulletin board motivation to these guys?
Seahawks, Seahawks -7 over Saints. If you told me in August Saints would be 0-4 I would have told you you were smoking crack.
Giants, Giants -3 1/2 over Falcons. Falcons are missing both of their starting tackles. In their place is a rookie and a second-year undrafted back up. Osi should have 3 sacks, Tuck should have 2, Strahan 2, Kiwi 1.5. Key word is should. I have watched Eli Manning every week of this season. He's not very good. There, I said it. That being said, he's still better than about half the QB's in the league.

Widukinds Diary Entry #1

OK so I've been thinking about alot of stuff recently swo I thought I should put it down. OK.

Topic 1) How sick would it to be Michael Jordan? Duh, there are the obvious reasons. But think about this. No other sports player is even close to as iconolized (word???) as Jordan. Think about this symbol:

Is there another players pose as recognizable in sports? Chad Johnson and T.O. and Tomlinson and all the hullabaloos try to come up with cool celebrations in order to be remembered forever. But no fucking way any of their shit turns into its own brand. Fuck hullabaloos.

Topic 2) Silent Shout by the Knife is a great album. But the song "Like a Pen"? Not like a pen at all! If you're looking for some solid pen jams, seek elswhere oh humble traveler! "I am all over the ledge"...? Doesn't sound like pen like me. More like, tape or some weird stapler.

Topic 3) Girls will never get video games, and the ones that do I always have crushes on. When you walk by my door telling us "have fun with your video games, guys" trying to make us all guilty, it doesn't work. We are having fun. No shit why else would we be playing them in the first place?

Topic 4) This also fits in to my second thesis, which is that guys who play less video games tend up to be way pervier than otherwise. Exhibit A, B, and C: juanfeesh, harrison....TITS, and the name sake. Why? Because if they're not wasting their time playing video games, there's a high percentage they're using that time to wack off. Just a theory. But think on it.

Topic 5) I love college and all but... how sick is winter break going to be????

Topic 6) Uh. Everyone should write on Sam Fishers wall asking when Ruby gets back on the pill again.

Out like my NL Champs pick Phillies.

By Request...

BOB: The Future...

Meet B.o.B.. BOB is a rapper that I just read about who originally hails from Decatur, GA, but now calls the area of Hotlanta his home. I looked on his myspace, and was pleased to see that he plays a show in Atlanta pretty much every day...yey widu. His myspace is full of goodies, including links to downloading a bunch of his mixtapes. I am not quite hip to the scene that is happening in Atlanta, but through the research that I have done about this guy I have figured that he was an artist of great interest of TJ Chapman, a very influential character in the hip-hop/rap scene in atl. I downloaded a mixtape of BOB and I have included the songs that I found to be the most appealing to my ear, but you all may find others that you like by downloading, The Future of Hip-Hop Mixtape. Some of my favorite songs include "Cloud 9", "16", "Atlanta, GA" (prod. Traxamillion), "Eastside Tales", "Chevy Star", & "Haterz Everywhere". I know that is a lot, so my top recommendations would be "Chevy Star", "Cloud 9" (I think you might get the theme of this song pretty quickly), and "Atlanta, GA". I wouldn't call this guy the future of hip-hop, but he is definitely bringing something interesting to the table. Oh yeah, he's 18.

***EDIT: get this whole album and listen to it in order...it is put together really well, and after listening to the whole thing a couple of times through i have gotten a lot more appreciation for it.***

p.s. worst written post ever.

In Rainbows...

The new Radiohead album, entitle "In Rainbows" has finally arrived (emailed to me this morning/late night). Although it may not be an album for everyone, it is a pretty monumental occasion. I chose not to put up the entire album, for you can get it yourself for however much you are willing to pay (even nothing) at the album's website, but I am including three tracks that I have enjoyed so far. Be advised, the album was only released in a poor sound quality (160 kbps) but you can still get sound of the songs. The album will be released in a special box set before December 3rd, and the album will be released by a label (which has not been chosen by the band) sometime next year. Please enjoy...

From the Bay to the A...

So the other day I went to this neighborhood by my school called Little Five Points. It's basically like a more friendly Haight - it has its head shops, its own version of True, wack vintage stores, Hare Krishnas dancing around handing out leaflets, but all with out the crazy homeless dude beating off in front of Amoeba. I also met two guys walking around passing out CDs. One was some guy named Agent Smith, who really isn't that good but I bought his album anyways because he was a tight guy. His voice is cool but his beats and production are pretty bad, so I'm not going to bother. I also picked up a mix-tape by DJ B-Mello from Seattle. His mix-tape was OK, and only one song really stood out.

Hustle (Seatown Remix) - DJ B-Mello
(If you're skeptical, it samples the NFL on Fox promo song. I love that song.)

This song is originally by this guy named Fidget, who's B-Mellos friend, I think.

I'm going to a Toots and the Maytals concert in Little Five Points later in the month. If you're not learned, get on it.

Peace.

here is no valid reason why any unlawful substance would be in my urine..

(much love Osi)

Travis Henry is the man. No lie. Nothing more needs to be said, but he is a good bet for the quote each week. Since I got two games tommorow, this is what my friday night looks like so let's get the picks going. Last week was quite possibly my strongest performance to date as I went 10-4 in my picks and 10-4 with the spread (ballin) putting me at 39-23 and 27-32-3 respectively. I feel another big week in the works...

Panthers @ Saints
Two very very disappointing teams. Delhomme might not be playing, but the Saints have been horrible all year. I mean horrible. After the bye week though, I like them to get their first week. They should be able to beat a putrid Panthers team on their home turf. End of story. This team has gone from fantasy football darling to ruiner. I have Colston, it sucks.
Saints, Saints -3 1/2

Jags @ Chiefs
I think I picked Maurice Jones-Drew in the second or third round of one of my two leagues. That worked real well. I am happy to say that I don't have a single Chief. And with that, I predict a Jags victory.
Jags, Jags -2

Lions @ Redskins
This pick I am making solely with my heart. I honestly think that the Redskins are gonna win, but am picking the Lions just cause I hate the Skins so much and if the Giants win and Skins lose, the Giants are in second. So let's go John Kitna and God. That article in ESPN creeped the shit out of me.
Lions, Lions +3 1/2

Falcons @ Titans
The Falcons cannot go 3-2. They just simply cannot. Not with Joey Harrington at QB. (I just came back to this and realized they are 1-3. I'm retarded). The one thing that worries me about Vince Young for some reason (I don't know what or why) is I feel he is a player prone to injury with all his running and stuff. How this relates to this game I don't know. Just a thought. Maybe its cause he's on the Madden cover.
Titans, Falcons +8 1/2

Dolphins @ Texans
I'm sticking with the Texans, my sleeper team pick from the two or three division I covered this offseason. It's funny, if they weren't playing in the AFC South (Jags, Colts, Titans) they would have a chance of being a playoff team. But in that division I can't see it happen. They should beat a bad bad Dolphins team.
Texans, Texans -6

Seahawks @ Steelers
I picked the Cards upset of the Steelers last weekend, and I am riding the upset bandwagon this week in taking the Seahawks. These teams are super even, they are on very comparable terms at this point but I think the Seahawks pull this one out. Just calling this one on my gut feeling.
Seahawks, Seahawks +6 1/2

Pats @ Browns
Another win, another week of talk about the Pats going undefeated. Shoot me now. I swear I'm gonna assasinate Tedy Bruschi and Mike Vrabel by week 10. That being said...
Pats, Browns +17 (their first no cover of the year)

Cards @ Rams
Gus Ferotte is not the answer. I think it was John who picked him up in fantasy. If he does well and they win, I'll never call you emo again. Maybe.
Cards, Cards -3 1/2

Jets @ Giants
The Giants schedule over the next 4 weeks: home to the Jets, @ Falcons, Home to Niners, @ Miami. If were not 5-3 after that stretch Coughlin should be gone. No offense to the Niners, but I am so far from scared of then now, and the other 3 teams have 2 wins between them.
Giants, Giants -4

Bucs @ Colts
What is going on with the Bucs, I never saw this coming. That being said, the loss of Cadillac will hurt and set them back aways. The Colts should move on to 5-0.
Colts, Colts -10

Chargers @ Broncos
To some extent, maybe (key word maybe) the two most disappointing teams this year. Definately the Chargers. This is by far the hardest game of the week to pick (judging by the pick line), and I can't see either of these teams at under .500. That being said, I'm going with the Broncos solely cause their at home. That's it.
Broncos, Broncos (pick)

Ravens @ Niners
Trent Dilfer is not the answer for 3 maybe 4+ weeks. Something needs to be done. I would put 9 men in the box every play if I was the Ravens. Sorry, but I think this one could get real ugly.
Ravens, Ravens -3 1/2

Bears @ Packers
The Brett Favre story has to end at some point right? Right? I say this week it does. This team is not 4-0 good, and the Bears need to prove they see themselves as the #1 team in this divison. They don't win this game, they're looking at #3.
Bears, Bears +3 1/2

Cowboys @ Bills
Combined record of Cowboys opponents thus far 3-13. That 4-0 means very little thus far. The scary thing is, they play the Pats and then no one else all that good. They could and should honestly finish around 14-2 or even 15-1. If they pull the upset and beat the Pats all they have to beat really is the Packers and Lions and Giants on the road. It would kill me if they went undefeated. But I'm getting waaaaay ahead of myself.
Cowboys, Boys -11

Geckobot comes to town tommorow...

Dida is a pussy...

I don't know if everyone here knows but today was the second round of group games in the Champions League and there was a number of interesting results. Chelsea beat Valencia and Liverpool lost to Marseille, but the best game was Celtic-Milan. Celtic beat Milan on a late goal, and after the goal a Celtic fan runs on the field and kinda slaps/kinda hugs Milan's keeper Dida. Dida starts running after the guy then falls as if he was shot with a 12 gauge. I mean, I knew pro soccer player were pussies but this is ridiculous. Here's the link to it: http://www.theoffside.com/europe/champions-league/celebrating-celtic-fan-attacks-ac-milan-keeper-dida.html

And here are some other soccer players being diving bitches.

I found this video hysterical. One of the funniest things I have seen in a while. Rivaldo takes the cake for me.

MLB Playoff Preview

So I realized that doing a Fantasy Baseball Review would be really hard, because trades never happen in our league and there are just too many fucking adds and drops to choose the best. I will, however, refer you to my Preview. Easily my most embarassing moment would be labeling Kei Igawa as Archie's best pick, however I am pretty happy with how my predictions turned out. Also, let it be duly noted that I will not have to eat a diarrhea popsicle, as Alex, Clay and Harrison all finished at the bottom of the heap (regular and postseason). My hats off to the Bubster, your team was dominant all season long... but I'm just too good at this shit (or too much of a dork, however you want to put it), and my team absolutely diarrhead over everyone in the second half. I am already planning for my reinstatement as commissioner.

Now on to the good stuff. The guys from Nashville next door and I filled out playoff brackets last night. One kid picked the Padres to get to the Series, so he's fucked (we gave him a redo). I figure we could do the same.

NLDS
Phillies over Rockies in 5
Hitting galore. This series is going to be really fun to watch, as the two hottest teams in baseball square off. I just like the Phillies firepower more, and I like the veterans in the bullpen (c'mon Flash!).

Cubs over D-Backs in 4
I don't get Arizona, nor do I think I ever will. They won too many close games this season; the law of averages always plays out. I like Marmol as the typical young gun coming out of the pen in the playoffs (ala Bobby Jenks, K-Rod, etc.)

ALDS
Sox over Angels in 3
Yes, I'm predicting a sweep, not very confident about it though. I don't like Vlad and Mathews Jr. hurt, and the Sox have alot of big game experience. They're pissed the Yankees almost pulled a fast one...Manny is the key.

Indians over Yankees in 5
C.C. and Carmona win games 1 and 2 at home, backed up by a real solid bullpen. The Yankees pitching does them in. Plus, Jeter sucks a fatty. Also, I'm going to be rooting for A-Rod in this one. He's an incredible ballplayer, and I really don't want to have to listen to Skip Gaymore(hahahaha I'm hilarious) rip on him for the next...year.

NLCS
Phillies over Cubs in 7
Don't really like this pick, as I think the Cubs can hit with anyone, but the guy next door is a Chicago fan. The NL Central has gotten too lucky over the past few years. Utley goes nuts.

ALCS
Sox over Indians in 6
Too much balance and maturity from the Sox gives them the edge. Papi starts to heat up, and whoever ends up winning the NLCS starts wetting their britches.

World Series
Sox over Phillies in 5
I think any AL team should be able to sweep the NL opponent. However, I think the NL bracket is going to be extremely competitive, because all of these teams have key flaws. The Phillies will have matured a bit by clawing their way to the Series, but they learn that outslugging the Sox in October is no easy feat.

As I said to Clay, I'm glad MLB postseason is starting. I need something to keep my mind off the fucking Niners.
Peace.

Dear Lupe, do we all look like that?

This is a song that is about to come out of Lupe Fiasco's upcoming album. I saw this video on another blog and thought that I should share it with you. The song is pretty sick, but condescending in all of Lupe's rhyming-with-substance glory. Please enjoy, and look out for his new album, I think it is going to be pretty sick.

p.s. Any comments about the white guy? Kind of reminds me of philly sans gafas.

No, I'm not gloating...yet

OK, so Fantasy Baseball is over, and I won. I am God. Three fantasy leagues, and three championships. My Yahoo! player profile's trophy cabinet is going to need remodeling.

Anyways, I plan on writing a review, but this needs some face time.

This kinda drama never happened when '07 was around.

Also, quick note. If anyone here thinks Marc Ecko is a raging cocksucker, read this.

Why should I listen to you? You weren't the sixth overall pick in the draft like I was..

This week's quote is in honor of a player not playing this year: Pac-Man Jones. He reportedly said this to Keith Bulluck, the best player on the Titans defense. This is a funny week of picks, and I don't have too much time to look into them now, but here we go. Season Picks: 29-19, last week 10-6. Spread Picks: 4-9-3 last week, 17-28-3, good thing I am not gambling and no one uses my picks to gamble. On to the games:

Sunday 1:00 PM
Raiders @ Dolphins
The Dolphins are one of the teams I know nothing about this year. I know they are 0-3 but the Raiders are nothing special. Saw part of their game last week, and despite beating the Browns, they never looked that great. I like the Raiders defense to win this game for them.
Raiders, Raiders +4

Texans @ Falcons
There are 9 home underdog games this week which is weird. The Texans are a solid team and kept it respectable and tight last week. The Falcons lost basically because of DeAngelo Hall, I wanted a quote from him from this week but I couldn't find anything crazy enough. I like the Texans, but I am actually going with the Falcons, just a gut feeling on this one.
Falcons, Falcons +3

Ravens @ Browns
I watched both these teams last week, and neither one looked good. The Ravens got picked apart by Kurt Warner (uh-oh) and the Browns got beaten by the Raiders. It's a rivalry game so you know it's gonna be heated and I see both these teams trying to run the ball over the other one. I think the Ravens win under those circumstances.
Ravens, Ravens -4 1/2

Bears @ Lions
YAY! It's Griese time! I like it how Bears fans think that bringing in Griese is so much better than Grossman. Face it, the Bears quarterbacks suck. Have a good year. The lions got embarressed last week, and playing on their home turf, I think they'll be coming back for revenge and I like them against a beat up bears defense.
Lions, Lions +3

Packers @ Vikings
Brett Favre are you kidding me? My starting fantasy QB #1 is balling out of control. I don't know what to say except watch out for my team. We're riding Brett Favre (not in a gay way, kinda) until his arm falls off. The Vikings are bad, really bad. I still really like Tavaris Jackson, but they are pretty pretty pretty awful. I like the Packers, but it is very hard picking them to be 4-0, at least it will be real close.
Packers, Packers -3

Rams @ Cowboys
I didn't realize how bad the Rams were, really I didn't. I've picked them 2 out of 3 weeks and feel stupid for doing it. Now they are playing without Steven Jackson (good thing I didn't have the #1, 2, or potentially even 3 pick in the draft), and Marc Bulger with 3 broken ribs. That's enough right there to back up picking the Cowboys, who are the best team in the NFC, but that's not saying much.
Cowboys, Cowboys -13 1/2

Jets @ Bills
I don't understand the Bills. They come off last year ending the season well but are 0-3 and have scored 24 points (last in the NFL). They are gonna start Trent Edwards (Stanford YAY RJ DUHHH) which is never a good thing. Chad Pennington, my fantasy QB #2 has also been playing money this week and I say it keeps going this week.
Jets, Jets -3 1/2

Bucs @ Panthers
I think I may have picked every Bucs game wrong so far this year (I admit it, I am not very good at this) and I haven't gotten to watch any of their games so I really don't know what they have. But I did get to see the Panthers last week and wasn't too impressed, I mean they got shredded by Joey Harrington. I like the Bucs in this one, in a low-scoring affair. I actually will like them even more if Delhomme comes back instead of Carr.
Bucs, Bucs +3

Seahawks @ Niners
Now from what I can tell, and this is without watching any of their games because none have been televised when I have been watching, the Niners are not looking so good. Especially Alex Smith. Losing Norv Turner is proving to be a big blow for this team and now with no Manny Lawson or VD for some time, they have lost a few playmakers. The Seahawks are winning, but haven't been that impressive yet. I know the Niners beat the Seahawks both times last year, but I don't see it happening Sunday, sorry.
Seahawks, Seahawks -2 1/2

Steelers @ Cards
This is my upset of the week. The Steelers are sitting at 3-0 and the Cardinals are going through a somewhat mini QB controversy. I think Matt Leinart busts out a big fuck you game to everyone and the Cards upset the Steelers. Hopefully Big Ben and Troy Polamalu will be killed in the proceedings as well, except that will make them bigger heros than Superman and Batman.
Cardinals, Cardinals +6 1/2

Chiefs @ Chargers
Two teams that have played poorly thus far. The Chiefs have the second lowest point total, 26, and are off to a whopping 0-3 start (I predicted they would be really bad when I did their division. Note: I really shouldn't be bragging about this because it really isn't that surprising but I don't have a lot going for my picks right now), and the Norv Turner era has begun in S.D. My question is where does this rank in the stupid coaching moves rankings. I say its almost as good as Chelsea firing Jose Mourinho; its close but not quite as dumb- as demonstrated by Chelsea's 0-0 draw at home to the American team Fulham. Anyways the Chargers will win this week but they haven't gotten to the tough part of their schedule yet, that's when this will really get fun.
Chargers, Chargers -12

Broncos @ Colts
I watched in shock as the Broncos stunk up the joint last week against the Jags. That was the ugliest and worst Mike Shanahan coached game I had seen in a while. The Colts are 3-0, but it hasn't quite been the cruise that the record indicates. Their last two games have been tight, and one could make the argument that if either of those teams were better, they would have won those games. I don't see the Broncos sucking back to back weeks, so here's my second upset of the week.
Broncos, Broncos +10 (spread is too big anyways)

Eagles @ Giants
For the first time in my life, I will be able to witness a Giants game in person at the home grounds of the team. I'm not gonna lie, I might cry. This could be a turning point in my life; if this goes as well as I hope it does, I can see myself trying to go to at least 3-4 Giants games a year over the next four year. The Eagles are coming off a big win, but everything for them depends on Brian Westbrook. I expect he'll play, but he's the type of guy who gets hampered by his injuries. The Giants are coming off a big win too, and while every Giants fan is expecting the typical let down by them this week, I am going with my heart instead of my brain. Note: I will be so unsurprised if they just absolutely suck this week. They definately have that in them.
Giants, Giants +2 1/2 I have picked every game of theirs wrong this year thus far

Pats @ Bengals
I'll tell you one thing I hate: living in NE and having to hear about a Pats undefeated season roughly 10 times a day. That being said:
Pats, Pats -7, this could be a 20 point spread and I'd say they'd cover this week.

Peace

Tribute to Milton Bradley

I'm positive this is going to be redundant for about half of those who read this blog but I still have to post this YouTube Video. Basically, Milton Bradley has been topic of hilarity for some time now. He automatically makes any team he plays on darker (a plus) and he draws fans like me who can't wait to see his next outburst (a huge plus). For those of you who don't know, Bradley loves his outbursts. Most of them are just basic, run of the mill yell at the umpire for a few minutes and get ejected. Then there are those times when he gets so angry he breaks his bat over his leg. This happens pretty often. Here's an example from this year:

Then there's his famous blowup from a few years back when he was with the dodgers. Basically, for those that haven't see the video yet, Bradley goes apeshit and empties about a hundred balls and maybe thirty bats onto the field after being ejected. But, I think Bradley may have topped himself yesterday when he was so intent on charging umpire Mike Winters, he went through his manager Bud Black, who was forced to push him to the ground fearing that Bradley would be suspended for the playoffs. Watch the video to see what happens next:

The Padres should have known better. But still you have to love him.
