:) (Rant of an Elated and Exhausted Giants Fan #4)

Rich Seubert: Wow Tiki you are fucking pussy quitter bitch, how do you feel?

Wow. The most amazing and nerve racking experience of my life. Fuck the Pats. Fuck Bill Simmons. Fuck Bill Belicheck. Fuck Tom Brady. No more undefeated. No more Eli Manning garbage talk. That win was for all the Giants fans, all of New York, but much more importantly and this encompasses all of you, that win was for everyone who wanted to see the fucking empire go down.

I wish I had more insightful stuff to say and maybe at some point I will but I'll try to put some of my ideas out there. Eli Manning = greater than Big Ben. Eli Manning = no more pussy talk, no more anything talk because he was the only motherfucking quarterback who could beat the motherfucking evil Pats this whole year. Justin Tuck = monster. Spags = genius. I'm sure we're gonna lose him to the fucking Skins now, but honestly, Coughlin should retire and he should be head coach. Michael Strahan = you deserve to go out on top. Plaxico Burress = you don't show up and then you fucking torch them for the big 6. David Tyree = people are gonna know your name now son. Ahmad Bradshaw = one of the biggest plays in getting that fumble back. Kevin Boss = to quote Widukind: "Shockey who?" Tom Brady = I hope you end up with Gisele on the stage of Metal Skool. Tony Romo = homo.

Much love. I love you all. I love the Giants. I love New York. I might try to go down to the parade. I love all my boys for rooting for the Giants, no lie we couldn't have done it without all you guys supporting us tonight. For real I mean that. SUPER BOWL CHAMPS 2008 NEW YORK GIANTS BABY!!!

Out like Tom Brady, Bill Belicheck, perfection, and Tiki Motherfucking Pussy Barber.

Edit: The thing I want to get across most and I am just realizing it is that I am so happy for everyone. I am so so so happy for Eli Manning cause the New York media will never have anything to say against him again. I am so happy for David Tyree, the 4th wide receiver who gets no love and whose mother died. I am so happy for everyone else that's what feels best. I am so so happy.

The Scariest Thing of All... (Rant of a Nervous Giants Fan #1)

The last three weeks have been a sort of delirious dream for me that keeps on going. Every doubt I have had has been extinguished, and for the past three Sundays, I have looked at every game with no regrets. Every Giants win was gonna be a undeserved and unexpected piece of joy, while a loss would be an end to an already memorable season. Yet the strangest thing happened to me as Lawrence Tynes's 47 yard field goal landed between the two uprights in Green Bay. I began to hope and believe.

The last time the Giants made the Super Bowl was the 2000 season, which means on January 28th 2001, I was 11 years old and in sixth grade. I know I liked the Giants at that point, but my fandom had not became fanaticism or obsession at that point. Gradually over the next years I became more and more involved; I started watching the play-by-play of games online, I began to watch every televised performance they had in San Francisco, and then most recently, I purchased Sirius Radio with the sole intention of listening to the home broadcast of Giants games. However this year, unlike any other year of my life, I have gotten to watch the Giants on a consistent basis. I have watched every game this season except the beginning of the first Green Bay game in week 2, and the Vikings debacle, during which I was on a plane from San Francisco back to Boston. I also went to two regular season games and the game against Dallas, all three of which they won. And a funny thing has happened: I like this Giants team more than any other team that I have watched.

I feel almost vindicated by this team. The Giants season last year was such an outstanding debacle that they were at times difficult to root for. Players quit on the team, they quit on the season, and they quit on the coaching staff. Yet this year it all changed. Jerry Reese became general manager, we got rid of some old blood, we drafted incredibly, and quite possibly most importantly, we brought in Steve Spagnuolo, the man who I want to be the Head Coach of the future for the New York Giants.

And all of a sudden it all clicked. Eli Manning got on the same page with his receivers at the end of the year. Our defense became one of the elite units in the NFL courtesy of Spags, our rookies panned out and have been sick additions to our team (I am getting an Ahmad Bradshaw jersey, no questions asked), and slowly but surely we have marched our way through the regular season and the playoffs on the fuel of passion, team chemistry, and a us-against-the-world mentality.

And now I believe. And I am fucking frightened to. I could have taken a loss at GB, hell maybe even a loss to the Bucs. Dallas would have been hard cause I would have been there, but now I know if the Giants lose I will be despondent for some period of time. I keep having images of Tynes hitting a field goal to win it, Bradshaw busting out an epic long run to put the Giants up, Gostkowski missing a field goal reminiscent of Scott Norwood in 1990, Gibril knocking Moss out of the game as Tuck and Osi get after Brady. And I thought I was alone. Until this week's Sports Illustrated when the Giants were on the cover (one of the worst curses of all to be carrying) and that motherfucker Dr. Z picked the Giants for the exact reasons why I am scared to think they could win. I am already nervous and stressed. And there are 11 days to game time.

However, the thing I am scared of most of all is a promise that will most likely be broken. My Dad and I agreed a few years back that we would go to the Super Bowl if the Giants made it, never realizing (I mean who would) that they would be where they are right now. And with about 95% assuredness, we will not be at that game. And I am scared that the Giants will win, I will not be there, and I will have missed the greatest upset in Giants history. Yea this probably sounds selfish and whiny and complaining, but I keep having images of Tom Coughlin and Michael Strahan and Amani Toomer and Eli Manning talking into the camera of next year's America's Game, and thinking about what could have been. And whether or not I will ever see that again.

That being said. Go Giants.

(Expect more posts of these sorts as the Super Bowl approaches, I am sorry but that is all I got to post on right now. Much love)

The Dallas Minutes...

The night before I left for what ended up being one of the most memorable ideas of my life, I came up with the idea that I should copy Bill Simmons, which I admit I did in all aspects, to chronicle my trip to Dallas for the Giants-Cowboys game. Now I did my best to give pretty regular updates t give you some insight into my brain on one of the biggest and most emotional days of my life. (I know I stole this idea, but I figure this would tell the tale of the trip well.) I took notes in my phone, and here they are without edits.

5:26- Wake up. I haven't slept all night to begin with. My outfit for the biggest game in recent memory: Boxers, tufts shorts, tufts warm-ups, white T, red waffle weave, blue anything shirt, giants hoodie, white socks, New Balances, Giants beanie for good measure.
5:36- Departure for airport. No physiological problems yet to report. My dad thinks "waiting for the bus on a Sunday morning would be the worst thing in the world".
5:46- "Who flies on a Sunday"- Me
"Old People"- Dad
6:04- Arrived at the airport. Babies crying, long lines. First instance of chest pain.
6:29- I am in row 10. Good sign #1 on the day.
12:18- Dallas time. Slept the whole flight. Time to go. I didn't realize how annoying Texas accents were. It's like being around a million Jimmie Johnson's.
12:27- Check Chargers-Colts for the first time. Colts up 7-0 with Rivers throwing a pick. It was only a matter of time until Rivers and Turner played like, in the words of Warren Sapp: "gay porn". (I was sadly mistaken here).
12:42- I realize that I really enjoy being a fan in the opposition city. I mean I really enjoy it. There's no way to not be an asshole, so you better flaunt your support. I also think I had one of the members of the rap group Shop Boyz on my flight.
12:55- Second instance of bodily pain coming from the ballpark of my appendix.
1:28- Tommy (a 40 yr. old man), one of our entourage, calls "shotgun".
1:33- We're making fun of Arizona for not celebrating MLK Day.
1:40- We're 2 1/2 miles from President George Bush Highway. Texas for Texans!
2:06- A plane passes over head. It reads: "Good luck Tony. Love, Jessica". You gotta love Giants games.
2:22- A women walks up to our car to ask where she can pee (despite traffic). Mayhem ensues.
2:30- We have been in traffic almost an hour. We will not be seeing kickoff. Dallas sucks. (We made it to kickoff)
2:34- If we're lucky we'll be there by the 3rd quarter.
2:49- We're playing football in the grass (while in traffic). Except the grass is like fucking cacti. Everything's better in Dallas.
3:00- 30 minutes to game time. The chest pain has officially started.
3:30- "I've never been so nervous in my life"- text to Michael.
3:47- Kickoff. I have consumed 6 beers and 1 hot dog all day. The chicks scream loudest in Dallas.
3:56- Giants 7-0. Cowboys fans starts talking about the boys being in the same night as the Pats last night. I kindly remind him the Cowboys lost to the Pats. Asshole.
4:14- Bradshaw is officially my favorite Giant. Feagles pins them. We're surrounded my drunk Giants fans.
4:18- I can't stand Marion Barber.
4:23- Girls in Texas try hard to look good.
4:29- I fucking knew they were throwing a fade. That TD is all on Spags.
4:57- Cowboys driving hard again. I'm down in the dumps. We can't stop them if our life depended on it.
5:04- 14-7 Cowboys. Fuck. I feel like I'm gonna throw up and/or die.
5:15- Wow Eli wow. I'm scared to write.
5:43- We hold them to a FG. That's a minor victory.
5:55- Punt. I'm really starting to worry.
6:09- I will let Ahmad Bradshaw have sex with my wife on our honeymoon. I'm very buzzed.
6:23- I do not like Brandon Jacobs.
6:35- You could cut the tension with a knife (cliche I know).
6:41- Best sporting event of my life. I'm hooked on playoff sports.
6:45- I'm having a coronary. I wish you guys could feel this.
6:52- I don't believe it. I love you all.

Out like (fill in all 28 other teams here).

Playoffs?...Playoffs?...

Well that bittersweet time of year has arrived, as the regular season has ended for 3/8 of the teams in the league, including the beloved 49ers, leaving us with 12 teams in the NFL playoffs. Now as much as I love the playoffs, and I do love them recently considering the Giants have been in them the past three year, I always feel sad by the time they roll around as I know that my team has at best only really 2 weeks left on their schedule and the season is a month from its end. I literally do not have any ideas of what I will do on Sundays from February on, the best I can come up with is to write a playbook.

Now over the course of the season I was sort of off-and-on with my picks and while I know that hardly anyone else cares, I wanna see how I did. I finished 113-63 in picking winners giving me a .642 winning percentage. Against the spread however, I finished a whopping 78-90-8 or a .443 winning percentage. Comparatively last year I had a .525 and .4625 winning percentage respectively, but I wasn't counting ties.

Now on to the playoffs. I plan on picking winners for the playoffs, but this week I'll throw in the spreads cause I've spent some time pondering them.

Redskins @ Seahawks: I really like the Redskins for some reason (I think it probably has to do with my east-coast football bias, I am now willing to acknowledge it) but I think the Seahawks will squeak this one out. The Redskins have all the right intangibles going for them, but I think Todd Collins has to poop the bed at some point and playing at the artificial-crowd-noise-enhanced Qwest Field, I see him not only pooping the bed but throwing up in it and then waking up in it the next morning and retiring from embarrassment. That being said, it will be close and the Redskins will cover.

Jags @ Steelers: I feel like that everything that I could say about this match-up has been said a thousand times already by every commentator on ESPN and the NFL Network. I like the Jags, but I don't like that they are Vegas favorites and the fact that everyone including the Best Man at my parents' wedding are jocking the Jags. It's very hard to win at Heinz field, and to do it twice would be epic. I want the Jags to win, but I'm sorry to say that I am picking the Steelers, meaning that they will cover as well.

Giants @ Bucs: Now I could talk about this match-up for weeks and I just might have to right here. I like the Giants offense over the TB offense a lot. I like the Bucs defense over the Giants defense only a little. A lot of the people I have seen are picking the Giants which is a bad sign for the Giants (we do better under the radar) but I do love our 7-1 away record and a not-so-difficult match-up. If their QB wasn't Jeff Garcia I would love this game but I have watched at least four of the 5 times he has played the Giants and I believe he won all 4. We need a a solid pass rush, and once we get that, if we prevent the scramble, we will win. I'm going with my team, and that means they cover as well.

Titans @ Chargers: The worst game of these playoffs potentially. It would be much more interesting if the Browns had made it instead of the Titans. I am not sold at all on the Titans, and I think they are a truly mediocre team. The Chargers win, they cover, and they win big.

Divisional Rd.
Steelers @ Pats: I think this game will be much closer this time around, and I actually think the Steelers could really give the Pats a scare. That being said, the Pats are fucking surgical this year, and I think they pull away in the 4th quarter to win this game by a comfortable margin.

Chargers @ Colts: My prediction for this game is that the Chargers take an early lead, and then Norv Turner pulls a BME Pain Olympics with his team and hatchets their collective balls off and the Chargers blow their lead. The Colts are under the radar in the sense that everyone is saying they are under the radar, and I think they will be sharp for this game and after the early scare, cruise past a puzzled Norv Turner.

Seahawks @ Packers: Are the Packers built for the cold weather of their own field? Are the Seahawks? I actually would answer no to both questions. If the Giants make it to Green Bay through a Redskins win, I will actually be feeling very good about that game. That being said, in a cold, blustery, Lambeau tundra game, you gotta go with Brett Favre. So that's what I'll do.

Giants @ Cowboys: The Giants have been beaten down like a little brother by the Cowboys twice this year, and despite the fact that it's near impossible to beat a team three times in one year, I think the Cowboys match-up too well against the Giants. If they are without TO it could be a close and interesting game, but I think the Cowboys strength on both sides of the line win out in this game 9/10 times.

Conference Championships:
Packers @ Cowboys: I would venture that by this time, TO will be close to healthy, and I like the Cowboys in this match-up. I think the Cowboys are the best team to come out of the NFC in some while, and I think that they will make the Super Bowl despite the opponents they face.

Colts @ Pats: This is the match-up everyone is hoping for and waiting for as the new sort of "America's team" goes up against the evil empire of New England and Emperor Belichick with Darth Moss and Darth Brady. Correction Darsh Moss and Brady. I know there might be some dispute of me calling the Colts America's team, but I think they honestly get a lot more support from casual fans and as people's second favorite team because Peyton Manning is in more commercials than the Verizon guy and Jared. Plus he's good. However, if anyone can see the Colts knocking the Pats out of the playoffs two years in a row I think they might want to remember how this team has embraced the revenge, bad-guy element, and I think the Pats will beat the shit out of the Colts in one of those blustery New England days. This one I think could harken back to the snow game they played a few years back where Manning just got eaten alive.

Super Bowl:
Cowboys vs. Pats: Real original match-up Alex. Right? Well I can't see the playoffs playing out anyway. And I can't see the Pats losing. Fuck. Gay.

Out like Martina Hingis on blow.

Widukind is a Fantasy God a.k.a. Fantasy Football Review

!

Well, well, well. Another fantasy season, another championship for Widukind. God it's great to be me. Here is the season in review; I start out looking over the draft, and then proceed to my end-of-the-year awards.

Best Pick: Tom Brady, 22 overall, I Eat Pussy (Alot!). I came in to this saying to myself that I wouldn't reward anyone for picking a Patriot, until I was reviewing the draft results and saw an oddly astute Harrison snatching up Brady in the 2nd round. I also don't mind giving Harrison this award because he proved himself a much more capable fantasy player than I had ever imagined, and somewhat made up for his absolute disgrace of a performance in baseball.
Honorable Mention: Patrick Willis, 108 overall, banana cumcakes. Clay made him the first defender taken off the board, and for good reason. The dude defines "cornfed".

Best Value Pick: Tony Romo "No Homo", 62 overall, SploogeOnMyBreakfast. Yahoo!'s 3rd overall point scorer needed to prove himself this season, and he did more than that, garnering respect even from a few Niner faithful (most notably, me and Clay).
Honorable Mention: Adrian Peterson, 51 overall, I Eat Pussy (Alot!).

Worst Pick: Calvin Johnson, 46 overall, I Eat Pussy (Alot!). Rookie wide receivers are pretty iffy, and Harrison could have had a plethora of guys with this pick that would have made his team unstoppable. In hindsight this makes the "genius" Adrian Peterson pick make more sense.
Honorable Mention: Larry Johnson, 3 overall, I Eat Pussy (Alot!). Hey, you win some, you lose some.
Also, pretty much all of Ilan's picks except for Greg Jennings.

Best/Worst Trade: We didn't pull off a single trade in this league. Wow. How the hell did that happen?
Dumbest Drop: Earnest Graham, September 30 (2:11 AM???), SploogeOnMyBreakfast. Harrison let him go, you swept him up, and promptly released him. Juanfeesh came in for the rebound the same day.
Honorable Mention: Brian Urlacher, October 29, SploogeOnMyBreakfast. Mark gave up on a down-and-out playmaker, and Urlacher fell right in to my lap and carried me in the playoffs.

Smartest Add: Wes Welker, September 4, Ass+Cum+Blood=Salsa. Second reward for a Patriot pick, but there's no debate; went undrafted, picked off waivers right away. Alex never looked back.
Almost the Luckiest Fucking Fantasy Player...Again: Archibald Hunter of loose goose. Earlier in the year Archie famously claimed "I don't know shit about baseball" but still dominated the league. However, I ultimately came to the rescue and saved us from the horror of addressing him as our champion. As football also came to a close, the Tory was close to sneaking away with another undeserved championship (he was starting Alex Smith until Week 16 for gods sake), but I once again stopped him in his path.

Worst Fantasy Manager Ever: Ian Anderson of letsgostagsbaby. In all due respect, I feel really bad for Ian. This team didn't look half bad coming out of the draft, but he made no effort to maintain his squad, and ended up 1-13. Another embarassing performance from Woolly has his head on the chopping block for next years potential cutdown on owners.

The Ravens (a.k.a. the only manager to lose to the worst manager ever): Juanfeesh of cum_ice_cubz. Nice going.

The 49ers (**deep sigh**): vicklicksdogshit. Andy put up an unbelievable 52 points one week, and finished third to last in overall scoring (for the two below him, look up a few inches). As new commissioner, this is my second head I have placed on my proverbial chopping block, as I've come to believe Andy only joins our leagues to see if he can beat us making hardly any moves, which so far has yet to happen. Bastard.

The Patriots: SploogeOnMyBreakfast. A 14-0 regular season was certainly impressive, but Mark couldn't win when it counted. Bill Simmons wrote an article earlier in the year discussing how hard an undefeated season in real and fantasy football is; poor Mark now knows this all too well. I can only hope this is a sign of what is to come for our beloved Patriots. (I'd also like to note that while Mark will of course bring up this as his potential 3rd football championship in a row, in 2005 his championship team "Mom its just ketchup" was 7th in overall scoring. Additionally, in 2006, his winning squad of "Explosive Diarrhea" was 4th in overall scoring. What a fluke.)

Champion: Me (Mark and Alex can complain all they want, but it was Poodi Johnson who ended up as the top-scoring team in the league. So you can suck it. Yes, my genitalia.)
A sweep of the fantasy championships will do just fine; anyone want to buy a ticket to tour my Yahoo! player profile trophy chest? No? That's ok I'll just melt all my hardware and bathe in liquid gold. All the time. Mmm yeah sue me, sue me.

Out like me from the fantasy playoffs. Oh no wait....

Not out like me from the fantasy playoffs. Much better.

We love you Rodney, and secondly you can kiss my back side...

The whole quote goes like this: we love you Rodney, and secondly you can kiss my back side," Billick said. "But, I don't take offense to what Rodney did and I hope he doesn't misinterpret my gestures, because he's not that good-looking a guy."
Nice one Brian Billick.

Big post I got for you this week: picks, Weezy and some videos so let's get it started. Last week I went 11-5 in picks and am standing at 102-58 (not counting my 0-1 so far this week) and went 8-8 against the spread putting me at 70-82-8 (not counting another 0-1). Let's get it on for Week 14.

Jags, Panthers +11 over Jags. Why a Panthers cover? Cause the Jags are gonna have a little let down after playing very, very well against the Colts.
Cowboys, Cowboys -11 1/2 over Lions. Memo to John Kitna: Why doesn't Jesus love you anymore? I hope the Lions get fucked after what he said last year and I hope Terrance Newman comes through on his promise: "He better just hope I don't blitz off the edge, because I've got 15, 25, 30 (thousand dollars), however much it would be for a fine. I've got that much for one fine."
Dolphins, Dolphins +7 over Bills. That's right, this is the week they break the streak. I'm gonna be honest, I'm rooting for them to win. I don't want to hear about an 0-16 team all offseason.
Packers, Packers -11 over Raiders. Brett Favre better be healthy for the playoffs. Fantasy football playoffs that is.
Chargers, Chargers, -1 1/2 over Titans. I just can't pick Titans games right. The Chargers look to have a little momentum going right now though.
Bucs, Bucs -3 over Texans. Fucking Texans, I needed you to cover last week.
Rams, Rams (NL) over Bengals. Don't ask why, just a gut feeling.
Giants, Giants +3 over Eagles. We win this week, we're as good as in. No Wilson, Ward, Kiwi, and probably Pierce, and wounded Butler, Ross, Smith, Jacobs, and Burress won't help though.
Cardinals, Cardinals +7 over Seahawks. I really don't think the Seahawks are good. And I loved seeing everyone say Sean Alexander is overrated cause I've felt that way for years.
Vikings, 49ers +9 1/2 over Vikings. I think I have picked more Niners games wrong than anyone else. I probably will this week too.
Pats, Pats -10 1/2 over Steelers. I bet the Pats get no calls their way this week.
Browns, Browns -3 1/2 over Jets. You gotta love Bill Simmons ruining the Browns last week by calling them his money cover team.
Broncos, Broncos -7 over Chiefs. The Chiefs are really, really bad. And I'm starting to get really, really sick of Jared Allen, one of my new least favorites.
Colts, Colts -10 over Ravens. Bummer for the Ravens last week. That's all I can think of to say cause the pundits have literally said everything else.
Saints, Saints -3 1/2 over Falcons. If you thought the Saints would only be favored by 3+ against the Falcons at the beginning of the year, people would have called you crazy.

Now here's some new Weezy for all you, this shit is hotter than a sauna:
Birdman Feat. Lil' Wayne and Fat Joe- Make Way

And two youtube gems. I expect you may have seen them, but they still deserve a spot on the blog. One is in honor of tonight's fight:

If you hit somebody hard enough, they will give up, you can feel their body go limp and they'll just surrender...

This is something I am definately hoping to see a little bit of this weekend as there are a number of great matchups that should provide some big hitting. Plus since the Giants don't play this weekend, I had to find a new way to take interest in many other games for a different reason. This quote comes from Bob Sanders, who I hope to see do a little work in the biggest regular season game in a very long time. Last week I went 9-4 in picks putting me at 75-41 and 8-5 against the spread, but remain 50-59-7 on the year. And down 5 bucks...even though I could be even because of a certain bet widukind and I made.

Predictions:
Sunday November 4:
Redskins, Redskins -4 over Jets. The Jets are really bad, and I like the point Bill Simmons made that the Redskins should be really mad at the Jets for causing the Pats to fuck them last week. One game I have interest in.
Packers, Packers +2 over Chiefs. I am not buying into the short week long week concept. I think the Pack are the better team and should win. A game I am interested in.
Cardinals, Cardinals +3 1/2 over Bucs. I see the Bucs sliding big time over the next few weeks. I don't know why, but I think there gonna have a rough end to the season.
Titans, Titans -4 over Panthers. I hope by the end of this game the traveling Panthers fans get a "We Want Vinny Chant" going.
49ers, Niners +3 1/2 over Falcons. This makes three Niners picks in three weeks, I have been wrong the first two times. If they lose this game they are really really really bad. Plus Niners fans have two more reasons for being mad: Frank Gore might not play, and their first-round draft pick belongs to the Pats. A game I have interest in.
Saints, Saints -3 1/2 over Jags. Quinn Grey will not win back-to-back games. Plus the Saints are starting to put it together. Another game I will be checking on.
Broncos, Broncos +3 over Lions. Are the Lions really as good as the Broncos? I really don't think so. I will be checking on this game as well.
Bills, Bills +1 over Bengals. When in doubt bet on the home underdog. Especially when the away team has been horribly disappointing.
Chargers, Chargers -7 over Vikings. Come on Chargers, keep doing work and putting up big points. A game I have lots of interest in.
Browns, Browns -1 1/2 over Seahawks. The NFC West is the worst division in football. This will be made more clear when the Browns smoke the Seahawks.
Pats, Pats -6 over Colts. Unbelievable matchup. The next two weeks of football are gonna be great: Pats-Colts, Eagles-Cowboys, Giants-Cowboys, Chargers-Colts + some other decent matchups. Big interest in this one as well.
Texans, Texans +3 over Raiders. It's weird being on the East Coast because I have no idea what's going on in Raider Nation. Their record, starters, opponents...I have no idea about any of these things. Please fill me in.
Eagles, Eagles +3 over Cowboys. The Eagles always find a way to steal one from the Cowboys. Plus I think they'll be playing hard for Andy Reid who has had a worse week than just about anybody.
Steelers, Steelers -10 over Ravens. Never did I think that the Ravens would be getting 10 points this year unless it was against the Colts or Pats.

If all works well, this could be a very good week of football.

I can't get caught because I talk so much trash about how fast I am ... so much trash...

So this quote is not meant to offend the Niners fans, in fact I'm done talking shit, but I have to mention this one statistic: in the two games I attended at Giants Stadium, Osi Umenyiora has 7.0 sacks, 3 Forced Fumbles, 2 Fumble Recoveries, 1 TD and two Defensive Player of the Week Awards. I am jocking him hard the rest of the year, so hard I might have to buy a red jersey. Last week I went 9-5 (I forgot to put up my Raiders Chiefs pick but I would have picked the Raiders) making me 66-37, and went 5-8-1 making me 42-54-7. This week I'm turning it around.

Predictions:
Browns, Browns -3 over Rams. This could be one of the Rams best opportunities to win a game. I really hope it doesn't happen.
Bears, Bears -5 over Lions. The Lions are the new "Greatest Show on Turf", but play like shit on the road.
Colts, Colts -7 over Panthers. The most ludicrous spread of the week. With Vinny at QB I think this should be two touchdowns.
Giants, Giants -10 over Dolphins. I am praying for the Giants not to fall into a trap game going into their bye. Their game against Dallas two weeks from now could be the biggest game in the regular season for the NFC.
Titans, Raiders +7 over Titans. The Titans are ok, but simply cannot put teams away. VY leads them to a win in a close one.
Vikings, Vikings +1 over Eagles. I like the home team in this one. Two teams that are in big trouble if they lose this game. The Eagles need this one bad.
Steelers, Steelers -4 over Bengals. A replay of 2005 except Carson Palmer doesn't get hurt and the game is never close.
Bills, Bills +3 over Jets. The Bills screwed me last week, this week playing against a Jonathan Vilma-less Jets, they should cruise.
Chargers, Chargers (pick/no line)over Texans. The Chargers should win this won comfortably. We at Dress Archie wish the best for our neighbors to the South.
Bucs, Bucs -4 over Jaguars. Quinn Grey sucks. With David Gerrard playing, I pick the Jags in this one no doubt.
49ers, Niners +3 over Saints. My upset of the week. Niners steal one off the Saints. Frank Gore should get back on track and just go off on the Aints.
Pats, Pats -17 over Redskins. They have covered every week and at least twice I said they wouldn't. I hope they beat the Skins by 100.
Packers, Packers +3 over Broncos. Brett Favre works his Monday Night magic, and the Broncos concede they are about done this year.

To the haters who said I wouldn't get my money/I laugh, say 'Ha ha, that's funny'

This quote and post will combine two of my favorite things. Rap and football. I got a couple things lined up like a fade for you.

(I'm going in a list like Michael)
#1. I still have been listening to nothing but Wu-Tang in school. But I realized, wait, I don't even own the album that started it all, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). I figure that you guys like me probably only had CREAM and Method Man, so here's the rest of the CD. It's pretty fucking money. Get Enter the Wu-Tang.

#2. So in the car ride to CCRI for our reserve soccer game I heard this trippy ass new Lil' Wayne song. It's all about drugs and being high and sounds like it would be sick if you were high (I plan on experimenting with this tonight). It's called I Feel Like Dying, and supposedly according to the artist information in iTunes will be on Tha Carter III. Curious...

#3. 10-4 in picks last week, making me 49-27 (very nice) and 5-8-1 taking me to 32-40-4 (minor setback). This week's picks, minimal at most analysis:
Bengals, Bengals -3 over Chiefs. Chiefs are horrible.
Texans, Texans +7 over Jags. Texans keep the streak alive.
Browns, Browns -5 1/2 over Dolphins. Browns can put up points on anyone.
Bears, Bears -6 over Vikings. Called Bears last week, I like them at home.
Eagles, Eagles -3 1/2 over Jets. Jets look horrible, Eagles needed the bye week.
Ravens, Rams +10 over Ravens. Not sure if Ravens can put up more than 17 points.
Bucs, Bucs -3 over Titans. Somewhat of an upset, Titans need to slow down soon?
Packers, Packers -3 over Redskins. Fuck the Redskins
Cardinals, Cardinals - 4 1/2 over Panthers. No way Vinny T. wins if he starts.
Chargers, Chargers -10 over Raiders. Chargers keep it together/get it going again.
Patriots, Pats -6 1/2 over Cowboys. Wade Phillips is fucking retarded if he said Pats titles were tainted. Why would you ever give any sort of bulletin board motivation to these guys?
Seahawks, Seahawks -7 over Saints. If you told me in August Saints would be 0-4 I would have told you you were smoking crack.
Giants, Giants -3 1/2 over Falcons. Falcons are missing both of their starting tackles. In their place is a rookie and a second-year undrafted back up. Osi should have 3 sacks, Tuck should have 2, Strahan 2, Kiwi 1.5. Key word is should. I have watched Eli Manning every week of this season. He's not very good. There, I said it. That being said, he's still better than about half the QB's in the league.

Why should I listen to you? You weren't the sixth overall pick in the draft like I was..

This week's quote is in honor of a player not playing this year: Pac-Man Jones. He reportedly said this to Keith Bulluck, the best player on the Titans defense. This is a funny week of picks, and I don't have too much time to look into them now, but here we go. Season Picks: 29-19, last week 10-6. Spread Picks: 4-9-3 last week, 17-28-3, good thing I am not gambling and no one uses my picks to gamble. On to the games:

Sunday 1:00 PM
Raiders @ Dolphins
The Dolphins are one of the teams I know nothing about this year. I know they are 0-3 but the Raiders are nothing special. Saw part of their game last week, and despite beating the Browns, they never looked that great. I like the Raiders defense to win this game for them.
Raiders, Raiders +4

Texans @ Falcons
There are 9 home underdog games this week which is weird. The Texans are a solid team and kept it respectable and tight last week. The Falcons lost basically because of DeAngelo Hall, I wanted a quote from him from this week but I couldn't find anything crazy enough. I like the Texans, but I am actually going with the Falcons, just a gut feeling on this one.
Falcons, Falcons +3

Ravens @ Browns
I watched both these teams last week, and neither one looked good. The Ravens got picked apart by Kurt Warner (uh-oh) and the Browns got beaten by the Raiders. It's a rivalry game so you know it's gonna be heated and I see both these teams trying to run the ball over the other one. I think the Ravens win under those circumstances.
Ravens, Ravens -4 1/2

Bears @ Lions
YAY! It's Griese time! I like it how Bears fans think that bringing in Griese is so much better than Grossman. Face it, the Bears quarterbacks suck. Have a good year. The lions got embarressed last week, and playing on their home turf, I think they'll be coming back for revenge and I like them against a beat up bears defense.
Lions, Lions +3

Packers @ Vikings
Brett Favre are you kidding me? My starting fantasy QB #1 is balling out of control. I don't know what to say except watch out for my team. We're riding Brett Favre (not in a gay way, kinda) until his arm falls off. The Vikings are bad, really bad. I still really like Tavaris Jackson, but they are pretty pretty pretty awful. I like the Packers, but it is very hard picking them to be 4-0, at least it will be real close.
Packers, Packers -3

Rams @ Cowboys
I didn't realize how bad the Rams were, really I didn't. I've picked them 2 out of 3 weeks and feel stupid for doing it. Now they are playing without Steven Jackson (good thing I didn't have the #1, 2, or potentially even 3 pick in the draft), and Marc Bulger with 3 broken ribs. That's enough right there to back up picking the Cowboys, who are the best team in the NFC, but that's not saying much.
Cowboys, Cowboys -13 1/2

Jets @ Bills
I don't understand the Bills. They come off last year ending the season well but are 0-3 and have scored 24 points (last in the NFL). They are gonna start Trent Edwards (Stanford YAY RJ DUHHH) which is never a good thing. Chad Pennington, my fantasy QB #2 has also been playing money this week and I say it keeps going this week.
Jets, Jets -3 1/2

Bucs @ Panthers
I think I may have picked every Bucs game wrong so far this year (I admit it, I am not very good at this) and I haven't gotten to watch any of their games so I really don't know what they have. But I did get to see the Panthers last week and wasn't too impressed, I mean they got shredded by Joey Harrington. I like the Bucs in this one, in a low-scoring affair. I actually will like them even more if Delhomme comes back instead of Carr.
Bucs, Bucs +3

Seahawks @ Niners
Now from what I can tell, and this is without watching any of their games because none have been televised when I have been watching, the Niners are not looking so good. Especially Alex Smith. Losing Norv Turner is proving to be a big blow for this team and now with no Manny Lawson or VD for some time, they have lost a few playmakers. The Seahawks are winning, but haven't been that impressive yet. I know the Niners beat the Seahawks both times last year, but I don't see it happening Sunday, sorry.
Seahawks, Seahawks -2 1/2

Steelers @ Cards
This is my upset of the week. The Steelers are sitting at 3-0 and the Cardinals are going through a somewhat mini QB controversy. I think Matt Leinart busts out a big fuck you game to everyone and the Cards upset the Steelers. Hopefully Big Ben and Troy Polamalu will be killed in the proceedings as well, except that will make them bigger heros than Superman and Batman.
Cardinals, Cardinals +6 1/2

Chiefs @ Chargers
Two teams that have played poorly thus far. The Chiefs have the second lowest point total, 26, and are off to a whopping 0-3 start (I predicted they would be really bad when I did their division. Note: I really shouldn't be bragging about this because it really isn't that surprising but I don't have a lot going for my picks right now), and the Norv Turner era has begun in S.D. My question is where does this rank in the stupid coaching moves rankings. I say its almost as good as Chelsea firing Jose Mourinho; its close but not quite as dumb- as demonstrated by Chelsea's 0-0 draw at home to the American team Fulham. Anyways the Chargers will win this week but they haven't gotten to the tough part of their schedule yet, that's when this will really get fun.
Chargers, Chargers -12

Broncos @ Colts
I watched in shock as the Broncos stunk up the joint last week against the Jags. That was the ugliest and worst Mike Shanahan coached game I had seen in a while. The Colts are 3-0, but it hasn't quite been the cruise that the record indicates. Their last two games have been tight, and one could make the argument that if either of those teams were better, they would have won those games. I don't see the Broncos sucking back to back weeks, so here's my second upset of the week.
Broncos, Broncos +10 (spread is too big anyways)

Eagles @ Giants
For the first time in my life, I will be able to witness a Giants game in person at the home grounds of the team. I'm not gonna lie, I might cry. This could be a turning point in my life; if this goes as well as I hope it does, I can see myself trying to go to at least 3-4 Giants games a year over the next four year. The Eagles are coming off a big win, but everything for them depends on Brian Westbrook. I expect he'll play, but he's the type of guy who gets hampered by his injuries. The Giants are coming off a big win too, and while every Giants fan is expecting the typical let down by them this week, I am going with my heart instead of my brain. Note: I will be so unsurprised if they just absolutely suck this week. They definately have that in them.
Giants, Giants +2 1/2 I have picked every game of theirs wrong this year thus far

Pats @ Bengals
I'll tell you one thing I hate: living in NE and having to hear about a Pats undefeated season roughly 10 times a day. That being said:
Pats, Pats -7, this could be a 20 point spread and I'd say they'd cover this week.

Peace

They just jumped on us like a spider monkey..

This quote comes from one of favories, Lorenzo Neal in reference to the Pats game last week. A spider monkey? Really? I don't realy have time to look into the games this week so I'm just giving the picks. I went 11-5 last week putting me at 19-13, getting better, and 6-10 against the spread, making me 13-19, getting worse. Here's the picks

Colts @ Texans
Colts, Colts -6 1/2

Chargers @ Packers
Chargers, Chargers -6

Vikings @ Chiefs
Yikes, Vikings, Vikings +3

Lions @ Eagles,
Eagles, Lions +6

Bills @ Patriots
Pats, Bills +17 (that's too much of a college spread)

Dolphins @ Jets
Jets, Jets -3

Niners @ Steelers
Steelers, Niners +9

Cardinals @ Ravens
Ravens, Cardinals +8

Rams @ Bucs
Rams, Rams +4

Jags @ Broncos
Broncos, Broncos -3 1/2

Bengals @ Seahawks
Seahawks, Seahawks -3

Browns @ Raiders
Raiders, Raiders -3

Panthers @ Falcons
Panthers, Panthers -4

Giants @ Redskins
Redskins, Redskins -4

Cowboys @ Bears
Cowboys, Cowboys +3

Titans @ Saints
Saints, Titans +4

Peace...

That's what the talk shows, and ... and the game shows are for. You know, just to tell the people the nonsense that y'all believe in...

This week's quote comes from none other than Randy Moss in his postgame interview after his first game as a Patriot. Apparently the game shows have it out for him too. What a tough life. I opened the season last week with an 8-8 week in terms of picks, which I am somewhat pleased with. If I wasn't retarded I should have done better. Against the spread though I was 7-9, so not bad for a week based primarily on gut feeling and prejudice. This week will be fun, some good matchups, including Tufts-Middlebury tommorow, what most of the experts are calling the game of the week.

Sunday 1:00 PM EST
Bills @ Steelers
The Bills had the Broncos number for about 59:55 minutes last week, but ended up losing on a last second rushed field goal by Jason Elam. However, defensively they currently stand at second-to-last in front of a team who put on an embarrassing defense performance last Sunday night. The Steelers on the other hand rolled to an easy win over the Browns in Cleveland, showing off a fierce defense, and the same sort of passing attack they have always had. Big Ben threw only 23 passes with 12 completions but still had 4 touchdowns. That makes me mad. Look for the Steelers to get to 2-0 this week winning not comfortably but pretty handedly. The Bills just aren't the same team on the road.
Prediction: Steelers, Bills +10 (That spread is just waay to big in my book)

Bengals @ Browns
This is what I mean in terms of spread: the Steelers are 10 point favorites while the Bengals are only 7 point favorites over the team that looked the worst last weekend. The Bengals are coming off a big win over the Ravens and should be able to destroy the Browns defense. Only worry would be a typical "let-down game" but I can't see that happening in Week 2. Let's see if the Browns can get anything going, if not we might get to see Brady Quinn.
Prediction: Bengals, Bengals -7

Colts @ Titans
The greatest show on turf heads down to Nashville to face off against Vince Young, and the 1-0 (called that one) Titans. The Colts dominated a pretty good Saints team, and their defense surprised most by holding the Saints to only 10 points. You have to like the Colts passing attack against the Titans (that really can be said for almost every team though) due to the loss of their most talented defensive back, Pac-Man "Ron Artest 2.0" Jones. However, the most interesting aspect of this matchup could be the Titans rushing attack that rushed for over 200 yards against the Jags, against the Colts rushing D, which normally has more holes in it than Sonny on the Causeway. I don't think it will change too much though.
Prediction: Colts, Colts -7 1/2

Texans @ Panthers
The matchup everyone is talking about this week! David Carr makes his return to Houston to lead the Panthers against his old team! Wait, no. The Panthers surprised me by beating the Rams this week and Jake Delhomme surprised me even more by having a QB rating of 125.7. I thought he'd be in trouble by late September. The Texans are my sleeper team this year, and I like the way that Matt Schaub and the team played last Sunday. The Houston defense was fierce too, giving up only around 215 yards. Here's my first upset of the week, the Texans show up and sneak past the Panthers in a close low scoring game.
Prediction: Texans, Texans +7 (another way too big spread)

Niners @ Rams
Too teams whose games I incorrectly picked last weekend. The Rams were a disappointment in my book, putting up only 238 yards in a loss to the Panthers. Steven Jackson had only 58 yards on 18 carries; so much for my hypothetical decision to pick him 1st in Fantasy. The Niners were nothing special this past week as well, they played very mediocre for the better part of 4 quarters, only to pull off a remarkable last second 4th quarter comeback. A team deserves credit for that, but I am worried about the lack of productivity offensively for the Niners was very disheartening. Alex Smith has to play better over the whole 4 quarters and the Niners should be able to do more against a Rams defense that allowed 387 yards to the Panthers. I like the Niners in this one despite the fact they are playing in St. Louis, which always has been a tough game for them.
Prediction: Niners, Niners +3

Packers @ Giants
The one game if I was a better, I would absolutely not touch. The Giants will be playing without Brandon Jacobs for sure, and most likely (let's be honest here) Osi and Eli. The Giants O looked fierce this past week, as Eli played well- which he has before- but finally looked comfortable, sure of himself and like the elite QB the Giants wanted when they drafted him. Honestly, he was money last week. However, this week the Hefty Lefty will probably start and no one, not a soul, knows what to expect. The Giants D was anemic last week, putting them dead last in total defense, but they play a poor Packers offense this week. The Packers only won last week because the Eagles gifted them that game and despite all the hype given to Brett Favre's performance, I watched most of the game and was far from impressed. He still is nowhere near where he once was. I honestly don't know who to pick, if Eli was there, it woud no question be Giants, but he's a ? mark, and as a result so is this game. I guess i just gotta go with the home team then for safety.
Prediction: Giants?, Giants -1?

Falcons @ Jaguars
Two teams with lots of questions to answer going into Week 1. Will Joey Harrington ever lead a team to a win? Will the Jags ever put it all together? Was David Gerrard the man to keep? Can the Jags, in spite of all their talent, stop the run? I think the Falcons have the potential to be really bad this year, I mean like 2-14 bad, and was happy that they lost last week so I didn't have to hear 1000 Joey Harrington is back stories. The Jags are the better team in this game and I suspect they will win, but they have to get more out of Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew, and so do I cause I have both in respective Fantasy leagues.
Prediction: Jags, Falcons +10 1/2 (these spreads are scaring me a little)

Saints @ Bucs
The Saints got plastered last week by the Colts (somewhat surprisingly) while the Bucs got plastered by the Seahawks last week (not at all surprisingly). The Bucs are another team that would be better off in the CFL or NFL Europe, and I am looking for the Saints to put up huge numbers against them. I was very disheartened by Reggie Bush's performance last week, but what shocked me more was the poor play of the Saints wide receivers, they combined for only 100 yards receiving. This week that has to, and should be more.
Prediction: Saints, Saints -4 (spread waay too little)

4:05 EST
Vikings @ Lions
An epic matchup between 2 of the fiercest 1-0 teams in the league. Nope that's silly, the Vikings beat the Falcons (second worst this year?) while the Lions beat the Raiders (worst this year?). I like the Lions passing attack, but would like it even more with Kitna not there. I am really eager to see what Mr. Adrian Peterson is capable of over the course of the season, and I hope he has a big week this week...I am starting him in fantasy. I like the Lions in this game, and the more I think about it, I think they could have the chance to compete for this division as long as they don't play retarded.
Prediction: Lions, Lions -3 1/2

Cowboys @ Dolphins
The Cowboys put up almost 500 yards against a defense that could have been replaced by 11 senior citizens from an old people home with oxygen tanks and done better than they did. The Dolphins are another mediocre team, and they got beat by a mediocre Redskins team. I watched the end of that game, and was shocked to see how easily the Redskins drove through them, I think that will continue this week. As much as I hate to say it, I see the Cowboys at 2-0 and in the driving seat for this division right now. But, they need Terrance Newman to do anything big this year.
Prediction: Cowboys, Cowboys -4

Seahawks @ Cardinals
The Seahawks were the most easy pick of last week, and the Cardinals were my bandwagon disappointment, proving that no matter what, they are still the Arizona Shitty Fucking Cardinals. Edge got his game going a little bit, and it will be interesting to see if he can keep it going this week against a more solid (sorry niners fans) Seattle defense. I like the Seahawks to do work this year, so does Bill Simmons, and I am pretty sure they will be able to handle the Cards this week. They should be 2-0 without having to break a sweat.
Prediction: Seahawks, Seahawks -3

Jets @ Ravens
I feel that people don't really know what to expect from this game, considering the Pats were at another level last week- I wonder why- and the Jets never really had a chance. The Ravens dropped one to the Bengals, but I really can't see them all the way down at 0-2. Especially not after a home game, especially not after wearing those all black unis. The Jets shouldn't be too worried if Pennington can't start, I see Clemens as pretty much the same thing, but they should be worried about their rushing game. Thomas Jones did not look good. That is a big concern for a franchise looking for a back to replace Curtis Martin.
Prediction: Ravens, Ravens -10

Raiders @ Broncos
One of the worst teams in the league travels to one of the hardest places to play in football. I think we all know how this one will probably play out.
Prediction: Broncos, Broncos covering whatever spread they put up

Chiefs @ Bears
One of the worst offenses in the league facing off against one of the top defenses in the league. The Bears team this year looks exactly the same to me as the Bears team from last year: fierce, swarming defense, ok running attack, worst QB/Passing attack of any good team, will beat the mediocre teams only to lose to good ones. The Bears will be tough to beat for most everyone, and the Chiefs definately aren't pulling off this upset.
Prediction: Bears, Chiefs +13 (Just cause I am not sure if the Bears can score 13 points)

8:15 EST
Chargers @ Patriots
Undoubtably the matchup of the week, but its coming about 12 weeks too soon. This game should be a late season test for both teams. The Pats looked incredible last week, and no matter what everyone wants to think, its not solely cause they were taping the Jets signals. The Chargers did well by surviving the Bears. I've always thought its easier to play defense earlier in the season, cause offenses aren't quite on the same signals yet, so beating the Bears early is a pretty nice accomplishment. The Pats have something to prove this week: that they can win without cheating. The Chargers have something to prove this week: that they are better than the Pats, and deserve revenge for their Divisional loss to them last year. Expect this to be a fast hard-hitting game. I like LT to have a big week, but I don't see the Chargers stopping the Pats offense. And you know what's funny: Shawne Merriman cheated by taking steroids but no one seems to care that much. I mean he still made the pro bowl and has his own nike commercials, which are dope by the way.
Prediction: Pats, Pats -4

Monday 8:30 EST
Redskins @ Eagles
No game last week pleased me more than the Eagles games. One of my good friends here is an Eagles fan, and watching him go through what Giants fans normally have to go through was beautiful. I love seeing them lose, especially to shitty teams, and especially by giving the game away. The Redskins won though, which pissed me off, and I think this week things will even out for these two NFC East teams. Donny Mac (as the Eagles fan calls him) has gotta play better and the Eagles need to shore things up, but Andy Reid is a good coach, and I expect them to be ready to kick the Skins ass this week.
Prediction: Eagles, Eagles -7

Solid. Too solid...

In honor of opening weekend, here's some wisdom from Marshawn Lynch:

Ryan Braun for MVP.

Wednesday, September 05, 2007

People can judge me all they want, but only God can judge me.

In keeping with last season's weekly previews, this year's will begin with a quote from a different player every week. This one comes from Travis Henry, in response to the leaking of the fact that he has nine children with 9 different women. WOW. Check out the article here: http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070827/SPORTS11/70827008/1038/ENT03. Anyways, its a new season, and keeping with last years work, I will do game previews on a weekly basis. And yes I know I forgot to do all the divisions for my preseason preview but that was too much work, and I didn't have time for that with soccer preseason. I'll do my playoff predictions at the end. Anyways last year I went 42-38 in my picks, so over .500, and I went 37-43 so hopefully this year I will fare better over the course of a full season. But there will be no betting prior to the end of soccer season as that's illegal and could get me in big trouble. Anyways lets get the picks going.

Thursday 8:30 EST
Saints @ Colts
The Saints are one of two popular picks to win the NFC this season, and with the #1 ranked offense last year they should be. Reggie Bush can only improve, and with Drew Brees having a second year in this system he should have an even bigger year. The Colts are not a popular pick to repeat despite the strength of their squad, but I think they'll still have a fairly succesful year. In the first game of the 2007 NFL season, I do like the Colts however. I think that in this game that will most likely be a shootout, the Colts will win solely as a result of their home field advantage. I feel that in Week 1, that will make the most difference. But I think the game will be close, with a late Vinatieri field goal possibly deciding the game. That sounds about right.
Prediction: Colts, Saints +6 1/2

Sunday 1:00 EST
Chiefs @ Texans
Two teams that I see going in different directions this year. I like the Texans to have a definite up year this year, and I think the Chiefs could be in big trouble with Larry Johnson having gotten 400+ carries last year. Herm Edwards says he'll not use LJ as much earlier, to keep him healthy and away from injury, but then their team sucks. I mean without LJ this is a real bad team. It remains to be seen if Huard can be a real QB for a full season and their defense lacks talent. On the other hand, I like Matt Schaub and the Texans this year, and feel that this is a team that could reach the .500 plateau with a little luck. I expect this to be pretty low scoring, with the Texans prevailing in the end.
Prediction: Texans, Texans -3

Broncos @ Bills
The Broncos are a team that I feel should be playing with a little chip on the shoulder and extra motivation considering the offseason they had, and I think they will actually have a pretty solid season out west. The Bills on the other hand were a team at the way up at the end of last year, and are a team that I feel is just a big question mark this year. In this game, I go with the coaching, experience, and talent of the Broncos over the youth and potential of the Bills. The Bills won't be bad this year, but they are not beating the Broncos in week 1, however they have been known to pull off the big win in week 1. See two or three years ago.
Prediction: Broncos, Broncos -3

Steelers @ Browns
The Steelers are one of my least favorite teams (Ben Roethlisberger eats my bunghole) but they do have talent in certain positions. The Browns are a team with a lot of question marks at a lot of big positions, but I think they could surprise people a little this year. I don't think Charlie Frye is as bad as everyone makes him out to be, and I like the Edwards-Winslow combo. I am also curious to see what Jamal Lewis can do this year. The Steelers on the other hand, I expect to be the same-old Steelers team they are every year. Lots of running and defense, and lame ball protection by Gay Ben. I am taking the upset in this game for week 1, as I like the Browns at home (see the trend here) in this big rivalry game.
Prediction: Browns, Browns +5 1/2

Titans @ Jaguars
Now in my preseason previews of conferences I did, I said I liked the Jags this year. Cancel that. I liked them with Byron Leftwich; I do not like them with Steven Gerrard or whoever at QB. This game now gets won on the old VY factor, so I am picking the Titans and VY to pull off this big upset in week 1. If Vince Young was not on the Titans, the Jags would be the pick, if Byron Leftwich was on the Jags, I would like them in this game easy.
Prediction: Titans, Titans +6 1/2

Panthers @ Rams
This game is between two teams, that I honestly see are right at about the same skill level. They both have talent, seem to underperform just a slight tad, and rely on big playmakers. Steve Smith could have a big game here, and I expect the Panthers to get him involved early and often. The Rams will rely heavily, if they are smart, on Steven Jackson, as Torry Holt doesn't seem to be entirely healthy yet. I like the Rams at home to win this one, and I expect both of these teams to finish at about the same mark this year.
Prediction: Rams, Rams -1 1/2

Eagles @ Packers
As much as I would love this season to be a swansong happy ending for #4 (partly for selfish fantasy reasons), I don't see it happening. The Eagles must focus on protecting Donovon McNabb for the early part of the season, but I think he needs to prove to himself at the start that he is healthy and ready to go for the full season. This is a big year for him, with the Shegles taking Kolb with their second round pick, and I feel the pressure to win is high this year. I like the Eagles in this one, which isn't a tough pick, but I think this could be a blowout.
Prediction: Eagles, Eagles -3

Falcons @ Vikings
This could have been kind of a tight game a little while ago, with Tavaris Jackson and Michael Vick facing off, but then Vick decided to castrate the public's opinion of him. I mean he could have honestly taken out his penis and peed on a disabled woman's face and people would have been in less of a furor than with the dogfighting. Now this is simply a pretty boring matchup. I really want to see what Tavaris Jackson can do (I am not expecting much) as well as Adrian Peterson, and to be honest I hope the Falcons tank cause I am so fucking sick of Joey Harrington and if they win a couple games early, that will be all that we hear about. And you know what, I think they are gonna win, and that's exactly what will happen in week 1.
Prediction: Falcons, Falcons +3

Dolphins @ Redskins
This is kind of a bizarre week 1 matchup, a replay of the Super Bowl of the Dolphins undefeated season, and these are two pretty mediocre teams. The Redskins are relying on an unproven kid at QB in Jason Campbell, while the Dolphins are relying on an old Trent Green, instead of a young Brady Quinn. I mean, can we talk about how bizarre that pick was, Ted Ginn at #9, are you kdding me. This isn't Madden, its the real world, you don't take sick over good. I like the Fish in this one for no apparent reason other than the fact that I think the Skins could be real bad this year, and the fact that I hate them and hope they don't succeed. Let's be honest, it's week 1, I don't have that much to go on other than my gut and last year a little, so some of the picks are gonna be influence by my own hopes.
Prediction: Fish, Fish +3

Patriots @ Jets
I am not sick of all the Pats talk quite yet, but I know that it's coming, and I got a kid in my dorm who's a lacrosse player and a huge Jets fans who I talk a lot of shit with, so I am gonna have to be rooting for the Jets in this one. The Pats are unquestionably the most talented team in the league this year in my opinion, and the Jets have a lot to prove. I do feel that the Pats will be hurt at some point early on by the losses of Rodney Harrison and Richard Seymour, but not in week 1. And really was it that surprising that Rodney Harrison was found to be using HGH? I mean of any football player, I would say he would definately be in the top 5 for steroid usage.
Prediction: Pats, Pats -6 1/2

Bucs @ Seahawks
These two teams actually played each other in the last game of the season last year (I think, I am too lazy to check to make sure) and I expect the result to be the same- the Seahawks will win. I think the Seahawks may be better than last year, to the dismay of all you Niners fan, but I expect guys like Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck to play a little better this year. The Bucs are a pretty mediocre team in my book, and did not do nowhere near enough this offseason to address their multiple issues, even though they now have 1,000 QB's. I like the Seahawks to win comfortably in this win, and I expect Shaun Alexander to start off this year's campaign with a bang.
Prediction: Seahawks, Seahawks -6

Bears @ Chargers
This matchup I am actually finding kind of intriguing the more I look out. Look I know everyone thinks that the Bolts will probably smash on the Bears in this one, and there definately is that chance, but for some reason I think this could be a really good, fun, and interesting matchup. I can't quite explain it, it's just kind of a gut feeling. I think Rex Grossman sucks, and I love it how he is challeging all the haters or whatever he's doing, but I think the Bears defense could step up with a huge performance in this one to keep this game close. I am gonna pick the Bolts, but won't be surprised if it's close or the Bolts pull the upset. I am also pumped to see the new jerseys for the Chargers, the White Helmets are fucking money.
Prediction: Chargers, Bears +6 1/2

Lions @ Raiders
You gotta love the NFL for matching up the two worst teams in the league last year against each other in week 1. I mean I am really jealous of you folks on the west coast who will get to watch this epic struggle. I wish JaMarcus Russel was playing, I am really curious to see what he can do this year, I think he is another one of the really intriguing players who will factor into this season and the next couple years. I expect Calvin Johnson to do fucking work this year and on into the future with Roy Williams, and I kinda wish they had a sick QB who I could root for so I could kinda bandwagon them. I don't really know why, but that sounds like an appealing idea to me right now. I think the Lions will win in this won, cause the Raiders really really blow. I like Namdi Asomuagh though. I'm pretty sure I butchered that spelling.
Prediction: Lions, Lions +1 1/2

Sunday 8:15
Giants @ Cowboys
Now we get to what I have been wanting to talk about for a long, long, fucking time. Honestly you should be glad that I didn't get to do the NFC East preview cause it would have been so fucking long cause I can talk about those teams forever and have a lot to say about the Giants this year. So now time to get some of it off my chest. First, I will start off saying now that I am picking the Giants to win this game. I feel like they have gotten a bad rap from the press, and part of that is definately deserved, don't get me wrong, but I think that they are a better team than people might give them credit for. I am saying this for the first time, and this is actually pretty true, I think you guys can vouch, but I actually feel that Eli Manning might make the jump a little bit this year. I'm saying it now, his preseason, and attitude going in this year has finally made me a believer. I like BJ at Tailback, and expect Ahmad Bradshaw to be the #2 guy by the end of year. The WR corps should be solid with Plax, a healthy Amani Toomer, Steve Smith (who had a great camp), and Sinorice Moss, whos got a lot to prove. The big questions will be the line and the secondary. The secondary could be bad, really bad. But Justin Tuck has had a huge camp and is an apt replacement for Stray, Osi has looked good, and the new scheme works much better with Pierce. Enough of that though. The Cowboys are the other popular NFC pick, but I think they could be one of the busts this year. Romo remains a question mark in my book, and I think Wade Phillips is probly better at eating than coaching, and will fuck with their talent this year. I can't bet, but I had a strong desire to put some scrilla on the Giants this year.
Prediction: Giants, Giants +6

Monday 7:00 EST
Ravens @ Bengals
Ok, I'm getting tired so I'm keeping it quick for this one. I like the Ravens in this one. I think their defense will stifle the Bengals offense and I think their offense will be able to put up points on the Bengals defense. Watch out for Willis McGahee, I see him doing big things this year.
Prediction: Ravens, Ravens +3

10:15 EST
Cardinals @ Niners
Now what everyone else who reads this blog might read instead of everything else. The Niners are kind of the hot bandwagon team this year, which is a bad sign considering those teams always tend to not live up to their preseason hype. Their talent is undeniable but sorry I put them a year away. Smith will have some problems without Norv Turner but I expect will have a decent year, and I think Frank Gore should too, if he avoids injury which is absolutely key. I still have big questions about their defense, and I think their run defense could be especially weak this year as I don't particularly think they have enough talent along the line (aside from and old BY) to run a 3-4. Now this whole thing will probably piss off everyone and Widukind especially, but I think the #2 team from this league this year and future wild card will be none other than the Arizona Cardinals. There is no denying their talent at the skill positions and I like the fact that they brought in Grimm and Wisenhunt from Pittsburgh. That was a pretty fucking astute move.
Prediction: Cardinals, Cardinals +3

Playoff prediction: Here are my predicted playoff teams in order of final standings by conference.

AFC: Patriots, Ravens, Chargers, Colts, Broncos, Bengals
NFC: Saints, Seahawks, Eagles, Bears, Cardinals, Cowboys

Go ahead everyone, rip into me and my picks. I know its coming. Michael I can't wait to hear what you in particular have to say about this.

The Dirty Dirty

Since I am home sick today, I have plenty of time to waste on my next division, the AFC South. The Colts were weakened substantially this offseason, the Jags need to prove themselves this year, the Titans should be trying to convince everyone they were not a fluke at the end of the year last year, and the Texans I think could be a surprise team at the end of the year. I think the fight between the top 2 could be much tighter this year, and I expect the third team to also put up a fight in the wild card.

1. Indianapolis Colts
What's To Like: Well, let's see here, they still have Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, and Dallas Clark, the foundations of a passing attack that is (almost indisputably) the best in the NFL on a yearly basis. Peyton Manning is probably the best quarterback in the league right now, and I don't expect him to ease off now that he has won a championship. Joseph Addai proved by the end of the year that he could be their number 1 back, and looks like he could have a great future with the team. Dwight Freeney is coming back after a monster year, helping boost the number 2 pass defense. They have a strong, smart corps of safeties with Bob Sanders and Bethea, and if they can stay healthy, they could both have huge years. The Colts are a sure bet to have a dynomite offense like in past years, and that, along with their coaching, is almost enough to ensure a playoff spot for them on a yearly basis.
What's Not To Like: In my opinion, a lot, for a team that just won the Super Bowl. They lost their Pro Bowl left tackle, Tarik Glenn, to retirement, so Peyton Manning now has rookie Tony Ugoh defending his blind side in a season where the Colts will face the likes of: Mario Williams, Julius Peppers, Amobi Okoye, Terrell Suggs, and Shawne Merriman, among others. The Colts are lacking a true second running back, so if anything happens to Addai, someone very unproven will be stepping in there. It seems unlikely that Bob Sanders will be able to play for the entire year considering the manner in which he plays and the fact that he is coming off a serious knee injury, and if he is not there, the pass defense and rush defense will feel his absence. They lost both starting cornerbacks, and will now have to turn to two unproven players at that position. And, they also lost Cato June, one of their top playmakers on defense, and their best linebacker.
Betting Lines: 7/1 to win it all, 9/2 to win the AFC, 1/3 to win the South.
Final Outlook: The Colts last year, to some extent, were one of the feel-good, everyone happy type stories. Peyton Manning got his ring, Tony Dungy got some of the credit they deserved, and the suck-ass Bears didn't win. However, going into this season, I think the Colts have been weakened by this offseason. The departure of June, David, Harper, Glenn, and Rhodes leaves question marks at a number of positions. Everyone says in sports that the hardest thing to do is to repeat as champions, and despite all that the Colts having going for them, I really can't see it happening. I think they are going to slide back a little into the team that they were in previous years, a team with a great offense, but a mediocre defense, that ultimately leaves them vulnerable once the playoffs roles along. Also, one or two injuries, and this team could be looking at a dogfight with the Jags for first. I see them finishing about 11-5, as they have a few tough games in there.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars
What's to Like: The fact that this team, honestly, as a shitload to prove this season in my opinion. Byron Leftwich has to prove that he can be the undisputed leader of this team for an entire season, and since this guy has been a soldier before, I think he's gonna prove himself to be up to the task. Their running back corps is extremly solid with Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew, and with Drew in his second season expect him to have more carries, which I think will benefit both players. Coach Jack Del Rio has made it clear to the wide receivers that they have to improve this year or possibly find new horizons, so I expect a couple of guys to step up to the challenge. The team is enormously gifted on both sides of the trenches, and they have proven consistently that they can both run the ball, and stop the run. They have the best defensive tackle tandem in the business with Marcus Stroud and John Henderson, both of whom are beasts against the run, and strong and tall enought to disrupt the passing attack. A number of players are coming back from injury, including MLB Mike Peterson, and they should be in the top 5 defenses, like they were last year. I also really like their addition of 1st round pick Reggie Nelson at safety, and I think he could be a candidate for the Defensive Rookie of the Year. Lastly, the Jags are pretty well coached, and are almost impossible to beat on their home field, and I think this year they are a team that is gonna play hard and punish every other team they play.
What's Not To Like: A lot of the stuff that this team has to prove is a result of things that are not to like. Byron Leftwich seems to get hurt almost every year, along with Fred Taylor, and at least one of their defensive tackles, so a number of players need to stay healthy for long stretches of time, which has not been their forte. Their wide receiving corps is a question mark for a reason, as no one has stepped up and claimed a starting role or playmaking role for himself. The team also lost both of their starting safeties from last season and both their replacements are young, so they may suffer from undisciplined play at those positions. Also, the question about Jags has never been about talent, but whether they can put it together for an entire season, and honestly they have yet to prove that, and the expectations are there for this season.
Betting Lines: 30/1 to win it all, 15/1 to win the AFC, 3/1 to win the South (I think that could be worth taking).
Final Outlook: The Jags to me this year, somewhat remind me of the Bengals who took the AFC South from the Steelers in 2005, only to lose as a result of the injury to Carson Palmer. I think the Jaguars team this year has the ability to upset the Colts, and I was honestly very tempted to take them over the Colts. I think they are undoubtably a playoff team, and despite the fact that I have the Colts finishing above them in the regular season, I think they could go deep into the playoffs this year. If they get consistent play at the QB position all year from Byron Leftwich and the team remains healthy, I could see them finishing at around the 10-6 mark, and really challenging the Colts for the South. However, if these things do not work out, they might end up being the same old 8-8 team they were last year. Expect the former.

3. Houston Texans
The Texans you say, but what about Vince Young and the Titans? Nonsense I say, as I think the Texans will surprise everyone with a solid season and loads of improvement on last season.
What's To Like: I'm sure at this point the Falcons are regretting giving up Matt Schaub, and for me, I expect the youngster to have a solid year with the Texans. He was always a consistent performer and well liked by the Falcons staff, and I think he has the potential to become a solid, if unspectacular QB in the NFL much like say a Trent Green. Ahman Green is no Reggie Bush, but he is still and upgrade over the likes of Wali Lundy and Ron Dayne, so while their rushing attack still may lack potency, it should be slightly more solid than last year. Andre Johnson is one of the most underrated playmakers at the Wide Receiver positions and is likely good for 1,000+ yards on a yearly basis. The Defensive Line has loads of potential with the likes of Amobi Okoye and Mario Williams, the latter of whom I expect to have a very good year this year. DeMeco Ryans may be the best young MLB in the game and should anchor this defense again this year. And Dunta Robinson is emerging into a very, very good cornerback.
What's Not To Like: The Texans are not particularily strong or deep on either side of the line, and after David Carr set all sorts of records for sacks suffered, the front office has not done enough to ensure the protection of Matt Schaub. Defensively, the group may have potential, but they remain small and inexperience, and could be very vulnerable against the run, possibly finishing worse than their 20th place finish last year. The running back corps remains a question mark, as Ahman Green is over 30 and definately is past his prime, and the backups behind him (who will definitely need to fit in somewhere in the equation) are weak players. Also, aside from Andre Johnson, the team is lacking in receiving playmakers, as an old Keenan McCardell is supposed to be seen as an upgrade at that position. I am also not entirely sold on Gary Kubiak and the rest of the coaching staff, and I think this team might be a lot better off with a more experienced veteran at the coaching helm.
Betting Lines: 100/1 to win it all, 50/1 to win the AFC, 12/1 to win the South.
Final Outlook: I don't know why, but I have this gut feeling on these guys as well to be a sleeper team that challenges for a playoff spot this year, much like the Titans did last year. I've always thought Matt Schaub would be a good player, and I think now, in this situation, he will thrive. I also think their defense could come out and really be something this year despite its youth and the question marks at a couple of positions, and really take the league by storm to some extent. I see them finish right around .500, with marked improvement in a number of areas, and I think with the addition of a playmaking running back and wide receiver in the next couple years, that this team might have a chance competing for a playoff spot.

4. Tennessee Titans
What's To Like: VY hasn't even played a full year at QB in the NFL, but has already proven himself to be a winner, just like in college. I mean, the guy is capable of truly amazing things, and is the best playmaker on the offensive side of the ball for that obvious reason. Their offensive line is solid, as proven by the rushing total of Travis Henry last year, so Young should have plenty of time to throw, space to run in, and Chris Brown should have success as well. They also have some playmakers defensively in Keith Bulluck and Nick Harper, two very solid NFL players. Also, Jeff Fisher remains a very good head coach, and with him and Norm Chow at the helm offensively, this team could be potent around VY.
What's Not To Like: A whole hell of a lot. VY is on the cover of Madden, and while I am not a religious person, there are some jinxes that are a little too suspicious for me. Their starting running back is Chris Brown (barf), and their starting wide receivers are Roydell Williams and Brandon Jones. I honestly have NEVER heard of either of these players. They lost their top defensive playmaker because he seems to be somewhat of a psychopath and enjoys making it rain on women, and their best defensive line player proved he was a psychopath last year by stepping of someone elses face. Oh yeah, and did I mention the Madden Curse and the fact that their backup is none other than Kerry Collins?
Betting Lines: 60/1 to win it all, 22/1 to win the AFC (waaay to low), and 15/2 to win the South.
Final Outlook: This team has a lot of things not going for them. They have no offensive playmakers aside from their quarterback who is on the cover of Madden, and they lost their top defensive playmaker for the entire season. I honestly think that they might really really suck this year. I mean, I could see them finishing at 3-13 considering they play good teams and a couple other shit ones, but i think their record might not reflect how bad they are considering they have VY, who will single handedly win them probably two games. So I say 5-11 is more realistic, despite how lacking in talent and explosiveness they are.

Are you ready for some football...

I am here to finally give Widukind a break from running this blog, now that I can post on something relevant, important, and endearing. Yes, I am talking about football season, and I will preview each of the 8 division over the next few weeks, with predictions, money lines, betting reccomendations, and finally a playoff preview. I wanted to start with the (Gay)FC, or the conference with better teams (lets be honest), but less support here on the blog, and what better place to start than the best coast, so without further ado, I bring you the 2007 Hungryfortacos AFC West Preview.

AFC West
Let's be honest, this is a very strong conference, save for one team, but I expect it to pan out how it has in recent years.

1. San Diego Super Chargers
Despite new uniforms that look kinda ghey (honestly does every team really need to change their jereseys) I expect the Chargers to play at a high level this year, but to not come close to the success they achieved in past years.
What to Like: Philip Rivers has gotten a year under his belt, and after a year of solid yet unspectacular play, he has proven to be an efficient manager of games and a quality NFL QB. LT can only be derailed by injury, but expect his production to come down from last year, given the fact that he had one of the most spectacular years in football history. The team ranked 4th in total offense this past year, and lost very little. Antonio Gates should have another 1000 yard and 8 TD season. They lost very little personnel on the field, this offseason, and should be very prepared for the season ahead of them. Their defense is strong as well, with their rushing and passing defense both ranking in the top 15.
What Not To Like I was never a fan of Marty Schottenheimer, but I am much less of a fan of Norv Turner as a head coach. Basically you are replacing one coach with a reputation for being unable to win the big game despite being a great seasonal coach, with one known for bring a mediocre head coach, and unable to win the big game. I feel that will cost them at least two games this year, possibly three. Also, looking at their schedule, they have around 9 games I would classify as tough games to win, so their schedule will not favor them as well. The defense lost one of its leaders: Donnie Edwards, and the offense lost one as well: Keenan McCardell. Their receiving corps remains weak, and with Eric Parker injured already, it does not bode well for the long run.
Betting Lines: 6/1 to win the Super Bowl, 7/2 to win the AFC, 2/3 to win the division.
Final Outlook: Barring any injuries or any other unforseen occurances, this without a doubt is a playoff team with loads of talent. They should be able to beat the teams they should beat, and should be able to compete with anyone. Their schedule really is tough with games against the Colts, Patriots, Bears, @ Jaguars, @ KC and Denver, and Baltimore. If there at or anywhere above 4-2 going into their bye, they could compete for the AFC top playoff spots. I think realistically they'll finish anywhere between 10-6 and 13-3, definatly enough for the top spot in the West.

2. Denver Broncos
Another good football team, they just missed out on the playoffs last year courtesy of the Niners, but should come back strong, despite losing some key players.
What's To Like: The biggest thing to like is Mike Shanahan, one of the premier coaches of this league, and a guy who will have a quality football team pretty much no matter what. Jay Cutler enters his second season looking like a potential baller, and if they get quality play from him, this team could give the Chargers a slight challenge for the AFC West throne. The rushing attack will be potent no matter who plays there, considering the success of past years, and the offense should be much better than their bottom half finish of last year. The addition of Brandon Stokely should greatly aid Cutler, and with Javon Walker getting another year on his surgically repared knee, the passing attack should be stronger. However, whats most to like about the Broncos is the attention paid to the defense this offseason. The additions of Dre Bly, Jarvis Moss, Tim Crowder, and Dan Wilkinson should help out a defense that finished in the middle of the league last year. Champ Bailey continues to play at a level that is unmatched by any other defensive back in the league, and that should continue this year. Its gonna be hard to throw on these guys with Bly, Bailey, and guys like Ian Gold and DJ Williams at LB, both of whom are strong pass defenders.
What's Not To Like:Another year, another controversy at the RB postion for the Broncos. While it seems certain that they will find 1000 yards from someone, none of the running backs on the roster (Travis Henry, Mike Bell) instill that much confidence. Cutler is still young and prone to mistakes despite his cannon of an arm, and their receiveing corps remains unthreatening despite having been strengthened. Also, age at some positions seems to be creeping around; Rod Smith is probably receiving social security, Bailey is getting older, Lynch is on his last legs, and members of their offensive line are getting into double digits for seasons played. Also, I really feel the loss of Al Wilson is gonna hurt the attitude of this defense, no matter what they say. Also, its kind of hard not to feel that the Broncos are not a very unlucky team. The Darrent Williams incident was a tragedy as well as the loss of Sapp, the running back who also died this offseason, and these two incidents, I don't know how to put it, make the team seem sort of cursed, for lack of a better word.
Betting Lines: 20/1 to win the Super Bowl, 12/1 to win the AFC, and 7/5 to win the West.
Final Outlook: The Broncos are a team who could easily contest for a wild card berth this season. Despite strengthening their team this offseason, a good number of question marks remain, and like all the other teams in the West this season, they face a very difficult schedule. The loss of two members of the team could give the team something to play for and to rally around, but I can't see this team giving the Chargers too much of a push in the west. They will likely finish anywhere between 8-8 and 10-6 and competing for a playoff spot.

3. Kansas City Chiefs
This team lives and dies with Larry Johnson, who will need to essentially carry them into the playoffs if this team is going anywhere this year. Their biggest advantage might be their homefield advantage, which will win them around 2 games a year.
What's To Like: Larry Johnson is one of the elite running backs in football, and seems like a good bet for at least 1200 yards and 12 touchdowns. They still have Tony Gonzales, a top playmaker still, and Dwyane Bowe should help a passing attack that consistently can be labled as pretty anemic. Herm Edwards is known as being a great defensive coach, so expect him to get the most from his defensive players. The addition of Brodie Croyle will create some competition at the QB position, hopefully inspiring Damon Huard to up his level of play, as obviously he will need to play well if the Chiefs are hoping to do anything this year. The team is well coached, so they should be able to beat the teams they should beat.
What's Not To Like: Actually for me, there's a lot here. First off, neither Croyle nor Huard are proven NFL starting QB's and the team is a few bad games away from an out-and-out QB controversy and the need almost to rebuild around Larry Johnson. Larry Johnson carried the ball 400+ times last year, and it seems that with that amount of carries, and injury is inevitable. That would be catastrophic to this ballclub. Their OL which has been a model of success in past years is old, and has lost its two best members, Willie Roaf and Will Shields, and the rushing attack will definately decline with the loss of these two players. Also, age remains an issue and it surely will rear its ugly head, as Gonzales, LG Brian Waters, WR Eddie Kennison, and CB's Ty Law and Patrick Surtain all enter the twilight of their NFL careers. Also, suspension to Jared Allen for the first two games of the season will hurt.
Betting Lines: 55/1 to win the Super Bowl, 30/1 to win the AFC, and 10/1 to win their division.
Final Outlook: The Chiefs are a team that seems on a precipice this season. Age, potential injuries, and a lack of depth will surely reveal themselves over the course of the season. This is a team I can see having a very tough time winning a lot of games this year, and possibly entering a rebuilding stage for the franchise. The tough schedule won't help either. I seem them finishing 5-11 to 7-9, with a top 10 draft pick likely, and change this offseason.

4. Oakland Raiders
Yuck
What's to Like: Very, very little. JaMarcus Russel has pro skills and could be a very good QB in this league. They have a strong platoon at running back with both LaMont Jordan and Dominic Rhodes. The defense ranked #1 against the pass, and Nandi Asomugah is gonna be a star, and I like the adddition of Donovan Darius, who I still feel has some juice in his legs. Also, Lane Kiffen cannot possibly be any worse than Art Shell was, so the team shouldn't be quite so anemic. Maybe.
What's Not To Like: Almost everything. Russel hasn't showed up yet so he will not be ready to start for a little while, meaning Daunte Culpepper, Andrew Walter, and Josh McCown are competing for a starting spot. Jordan rushed for less than 4.0 yards per carry last year, and Rhodes is missing the first 4 games through suspension. The WR corps has been weakened by the loss of Moss, and its not like they were doing anything special in the first place. Their offensive line is a joke, Robert Gallery is the best player on this line and that is shocking. Defensively, they were #1 against the pass because they were so awful against the run, and that really hasn't been dealt with this offseason. They are getting old, they have bad players, bad discipline, and last year were poorly coached, so there really is little hope for the radiers this year.
Betting Lines (for a laugh): 75/1 to win the Super Bowl, 35/1 to win the AFC, and 10/1 to win the West. Should be 1,000, 500, 250.
Outlook: Honest and brief: this team will be a top 5 draft pick team next year, with many holes to fill. I can't see them finishing better than 4-12. Yikes

Check back next for the AFC North or South, I haven't decided which yet, but they will probably take a while.
