Dress Archie does PARIS!!!

After some exciting nights in Barcelona (including one in which yours truly accidently took the group to a club in Barcelona frequented by gay men), the group departed by Easy jet to Paris for our longest part of our europe trip. Immediately it was clear Paris was gonna more relaxed than our previous stops. First off, Paris nightlife isn't as active on weeknights as Barcelona's and second there is a lot to do in Paris during the day. Pretty much for the first time on this trip, our europe group became real tourists taking advantage of Paris' multiple sights. We started it off with a trip to the Louvre. For all you Civ takers out there, the Louvre is actually pretty tight. Really really big paintings. Like a lot bigger than those dinky slides in front of M-20. That night we found a bar on Blvd San Germain and ranked girls as they walked by (side note, of all the cities we've been too so far, Paris by far has the most talent). The next day, Monday, we walked the Champs Elysees or as one member of our group called it "the famous street." A lot of good stores for those futbol lovers out there. That night we saw Ocean's 13 which has my full endorsement now. If you wanna get in a good mood, go to the newest of the three. Not quite as good as the first, but much better than the second. HungryforTacos put it best when he said it was just a really happy movie. Tuesday was pretty much a throw away day. Many of us went and saw the famous Musee d'Orsay and its impressionist art. More civ and such. Wednesday was the most enjoyable day of the trip so far for me because guess what we got to do...SHOPPP!!!! (no homo). Actually, Paris (and maybe France on the whole) has this kinda weird but actually tight thing where the government mandates that every store have sales from now until the fall collection comes out. So we took trips to all of the HOT stores in Paris including Salvatore Ferragamo, Chanel, and Dolce and Gabbana. Pretty much all we did there is get weird looks for how underdressed we were and try on all of the trendy glasses. That night we were treated to a magnificent dinner at one of Paris' nicest restaurants Chez George. Huge servings, so much that the namesake of this blog was served five herring in lemon water as an appetizer and couldn't finish it (an extremely rare occurence). That night we went to Paris' youngest club, Les Planches which was sickkkkk. Hella good music (a lot of techno) but once again a few too many guys and not enough girls (where do they go? I see them during the day everyday but they dissappear at like 8 at night everywhere! WTF mate?). Now it is off to Amsterdam and the craziest part of this famous trip. All I can say is that the next blog post will be very entertaining.

R.I.P. Rod Beck

No one likes to hear of a fallen soldier, but when one is over seas it hurts that much more. For all of you who have not heard, the city of San Francisco lost a valuable member of society today with the death of former Giants closer Rod Beck. At the ripe age of 38, Beck was found dead by police in his Phoenix, Arizona home. The cause of death is still unknown. Here at dressarchie, we will always remember Rod as the bushy moustached fellow who pulled the Giants through many trials...both rough and smooth. We will always remember the character that he brought to the clubhouse. We wish the best for his family and friends.

Trip updates to come from here in Europe.

Dress Archie Does Barcelona...

So were at day 6 or something of the fabled Europe trip and we have reached the city of Barcelona. To take over where we left off from on Widukind´s last post, after the internet cafe in Madrid we hit the Reina Sofia to check out Guernica and the rest of the other stuff. As expected Juanfish was more into it than everyone else. It was decided that we were going to take it easy that night in recuperation of the night before so we went to bed expecting to get up early to go see the Prado. However, little sleeping took place, Widukind and Injuryprone having the worst of it, so the Prado was scrapped for more sleep. A good trade off as decided by everyone. We then took the train to Barcelona got in, and proceeded to raid the nearest supermarket. The purchases consisted of cookies, doughnuts, soda, beer, alchohol, chips and popcorn, all of the needed daily supplements. Archiebubby than prepared us all a lovely pasta dinner, and we proceeded to get drunk and other and march along Las Ramblas late into the night.

Today we hit the beach and in the near future we should be seeing the Nou Camp, and some other stuff. I don´t really know what. Probably a lot more drinking.

Dress Archie Survives Riot

Now on the third day of our trip, we have already seen a shit load of shit and done even more. Our first day in London was kind of shitty, given we had been up all night on the plane and the Pound was kicking our fucking asses ($5 pickles??? fuck that). Our second night was sweet, given our blogs namesakes brother is a complete boss. Not only did he take us innocent American tourists to a snooker hall (seedy), Lebanese food (where we had the $5 pickles), and a casino (I made some, so did Harrison, but hungryfortacos and the others...eh), but he got us in to what seemed like a super-exclusive club for fucking FREE. We don´t actually know how exclusive it was, but there were hella many fine-thouroughbred-dime-pieces who were all way out of our league. Except the one American beez (aZn) who was there, who I assume only started dancing with me because I was speaking English.
So that was cool and all, especially when we were woken up by Archibald at 1:30 the next afternoon. We were supposed to meet him at the "Chewb" station at 1:15.

Then we got to Madrid, where we were greeted with some sketchy motherfuckers trying to pickpocket Hungryfortacos. Luckily our namesake saw the bitches and they dropped it and ran off the train.
Once we got in to our hostel, we booked it back out in to the city to watch the second half of the Madrid vs. Mallorca game, A.K.A if "Madrid Wins, Big Fucking Party Because They Win Their League". They were losing 1-0 for a long time, and finally pulled it out with 3 goals in a matter of minutes towards the end. The fans flooded off to a nearby square, and by the time the players bus arrived, we assumed there were approximately 500,000-1,000,000 people in the plaza and nearby streets. Holy fuck. We learned some sweet cheers and got some sweet bandanas, and all of a sudden the entire crowd started to move like a damn stampede. We almost died. Once we got out of the mob, Hungryfortacos tried taking a picture of a cop and almost got his camera taken away (which would have been really bad because he already lost his poor phone somewhere in the madness). Then the riot police started shooting rubber fucking bullets, and people started running everywhere. So we almost died, again.
So in conclusion, Madrid is right now, the city of the trip. Meaning we are officially off London´s hype, and riding Madrid´s futbol-crazed jock.
Adios.
